Bai Juyi (772-846), whose real name was Lotte, was also named Xiangshan Jushi in his later years. He was a great realistic poet in the Tang Dynasty. Bai Juyi was born in Dongguozhai Village (now Dongguo Temple) in Xinzheng West, Zhengzhou, Henan Province on the 20th day of the first month of the seventh year of Dali, Tang Daizong (February 28th, 772 AD).
