Let's look at an example of art, taking poetry as an example. This example was used by Hegel in his Aesthetics Lecture. Herodotus, an ancient Greek historian, recorded the story that all 300 Spartans who bravely resisted the Persian invasion died in the seventh volume of History. Herodotus recorded a two-line poem by the Greek poet Simonides in this book. This poem was written as the epitaph of these 300 soldiers. The content of this poem is very simple. As far as its content is concerned, it is only such a narrative: "Three hundred Spartans fought against four thousand enemy troops here and all were killed." If Szimonidesz only narrates events in this way, he is not a poet. But he is a poet, so he gave himself the task of making a work. He wants the epitaph to be a work of language art, that is, a poem. His poems are as follows:
"Passerby, please send a message to the Spartans.
In order to obey their orders, we lie here. "
