Shenyang Conservatory of Music and Northeast Normal University’s 2012 piano repertoire requirements for graduate piano majors and the scope of other professional courses (work analysis, polyphony, etc.)

You applied for the piano department, first of all at Shenyang Conservatory of Music. The examination requirements are as follows: Piano Department

Study directions: piano performance, bayan performance, accordion performance, piano accompaniment, and electronic organ performance.

Piano Performance

Professional examination requirements:

⑴Chopin etudes Op.10 No.1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 12; Op. .25 One of No.6, 8, 10, 11 and 12;

⑵A set of classical sonatas (including Schubert’s sonatas);

⑶A Bach Prelude and fugue (requires more than three voices);

⑷One large solo piece (more than eight minutes).

Er Bayan Performance

Professional examination requirements:

⑴One etude (the content of the etude contains one or more bayan specific technical types);

⑵ One piece from the Baroque period;

⑶ Two solo pieces (one Chinese and one foreign piece each).

Third-hand organ performance

Professional examination requirements:

⑴One etude (you can choose one adapted from Chopin’s piano etudes or a concert etude or above) etudes);

⑵Two pieces of music (one each of modern Chinese and foreign music with a higher level, different musical styles, and multiple movements);

⑶ For polyphonic works, you can choose a fugue adapted from Bach's "Well-Tempered Clavier".

Four piano accompaniments

Professional examination requirements:

⑴One Chopin etude (except Op.10 No.3, 6, 9; Op.25 No. 1, 2, and 7 except);

⑵ One classical sonata (Allegro movement);

⑶ One solo piece (equivalent to etude level);

⑷Accompaniment ability: ①Sight-reading ②Arrange improvisational accompaniment.
