Turning ruthlessness into sentience is often an artistic means to make ordinary things full of poetic beauty. This little poem illustrates this point well.
The watershed written in the poem is about Zhongshan in the southeast of Lueyang County, Shaanxi Province. This is the only place between Qin and Shu or Qin and Liang, and it is also a famous traffic artery in the Tang Dynasty, so it is generally called a watershed rather than a location. The title "Crossing the Watershed" actually describes a relationship with the stream in the journey across the watershed, and the poetic meaning caused by it.
The language of this poem is very simple, like prose, but it is very interesting. Not only personified a mountain stream, but also personified a spoony little girl. She took pains to say goodbye for three days, and finally could not help sobbing on the eve of parting, which made people feel lovely and affectionate, and even made people want to comfort her gently for Fei Qing. It is conceivable that this stream must be beautiful and gentle, and get along well with Fei Qing, otherwise Fei Qing would probably not be so happy.
The first sentence is written from the stream. The stream is a natural thing without feelings, but the stream in front of us seems to have feelings. Here, "ruthlessness" leads to "sentimentality" and highlights "sentimentality". The word "sentient beings" is an eye, and the following three sentences are all described around it. The proper use of the word "like" reveals that this is just a subjective feeling that poets sometimes feel. If you change the word "que", you will feel too stressed and solid, but you can affirm and emphasize the sadness of the stream and give it moving human beauty; Changing the word "ye" will inevitably cover up the priority and make "ruthlessness" and "sentient beings" equally divided. Only this word "image" has a subtle meaning, which is consistent with the style of the whole poem. This sentence points out the "sentient beings" and at the same time sets up suspense to guide readers to pay attention to the following answers.

In the second sentence, the reason why Xiaoxi feels "affectionate" is dark. Gezhongshan is the watershed between Hanshui River and Jialing River. Because the mountain is deep, it takes three days to get to Lingtou. The mountain road twists and turns along the stream, and travelers feel that the stream has been walking beside them. In fact, entering the mountain means going up, and the water always goes down. The direction of the stream is not the same as that of pedestrians, but although the stream has been flowing in the opposite direction, its murmur is accompanied all the way. Because the mountains are barren and the journey is lonely, the stream that accompanied the travelers all the way has become particularly cordial, as if it were intentional, soothing the loneliness of the travelers with a clear face, flowing posture and crisp rhyme. Readers can appreciate the poet's joy in meeting good companions in his lonely journey from the word "get along with others"; The "emotion" of the flow is also seen in the word "de".
"Lingtou is a place to leave, bid farewell to the night." In the journey of "three days into the mountains", we are accompanied by each other, and the feeling of "deep affection for streams" is bound to increase day by day. Therefore, when you climb the ridge, you will have to be separated from the stream, and you will feel the feeling of parting involuntarily. But I didn't start writing from myself, but from the stream, and further wrote its "feeling" with its "farewell" Lingtou is a stop on the journey, and the poet lived in Lingtou that night. In the silent night in the mountains, I can only hear the running water in the ridge, and it is still a murmur all night, as if to say goodbye to my friend who has been with me for three days. These five words "muttering for one night" complement each other with "three-day trip" and are heard every day. The sound of the stream remains the same, but when we want to say goodbye, it is natural to feel that "the murmur of the stream all night" is like its affectionate farewell sound. Here, the poet skillfully used the natural characteristics of the watershed, which led to the departure of pedestrians from the stream and the stream from the "Lingtou", thus realizing the voice of the stream due to separation. The rich twists and turns of association and the naturalness of expression have reached harmony and unity. At this point, the "sentimentality" of Xiaoxi reached the extreme, and the poet's deep affection for Xiaoxi was self-evident.
The running water under the watershed has been flowing for a long time. Thousands of travelers have seen this stream, but no one seems to find beauty and poetry in this ordinary scene. Because Wen has a deep understanding of exile life and cherishes the friendship between friends, he can find a partner like Xishui and give it touching human beauty. Here, it is not so much the poetic beauty of objective things that triggers the poet's feelings, but rather that the poet shifts his beautiful feelings to objective things. Turning ruthlessness into sentience is based on the poet's own sentience.
Crossing the watershed
The stream is heartless and affectionate,
Three days in the mountains, we have to go together.
Lingtou is parting,
Farewell, whispers of the night.
