This poem describes what the poet saw and felt when he went upstairs from the beginning of a long illness, describes the loveliness of natural scenery, expresses his depressed mood in officialdom and his helplessness in retreat, and finally expresses his desire to retire.
In addition to poetry, Xie Lingyun has written more than 65,438+00 poems, among which "Poem of Mountain Residence", "Poem of Mountain Table" and "Poem of Jiang Fei" are famous. His description of scenery is quite clever, but his achievements are far less than those of poetry.
The Creative Background of Climbing the Pool Up the stairs
This poem was written in the early spring of the first year of Jingping in Song Shaodi (AD 423). Xie Lingyun was expelled from Kyoto in the third year of Longshan, Song Wudi (AD 422), and served as the remote satrap of Yongjia County (now Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province) from July and August this year to July and August the following year (the first year of Jingping).
This is the first time that Xie Lingyun has been hit hard politically. In the first winter after coming to Yongjia, he was ill for a long time and didn't recover until the early spring of the following year. So he went upstairs to see the scenery, lifted things up and wrote the famous article "Going upstairs in the pool".
