Untitled?
Author: Zhou Enlai
After the song of the great river, it turned eastward, and the sophisticated science and technology helped the poor in the world.
After facing the wall for ten years and trying to break through it, it is difficult to be rewarded by being a hero even if you cross the sea.
Translation of the whole poem: After singing Su Shi's "Niannujiao·Chibi Nostalgia", I turned around and went to Japan to study. The profound and rigorous science can save the world's poverty. After 10 years of hard work, after studying He must return to his country to do something good and save China. If this wish is difficult to achieve, even if Chen Tianhua throws himself into the sea to awaken the people, he can still be called a hero.
Creative background of "Untitled":
It was painted in 1917, on the eve of Zhou Enlai's study in Japan, when he was 19 years old. In September 1917, Zhou Enlai resolutely gave up the opportunity to study in Japan and decided to return to China in order to join the anti-imperialist and anti-feudal tide in his motherland. On the eve of Zhou Enlai's return to Japan, his classmates and friends Zhang Honggao and others bid farewell to him and asked him to give him a book as a souvenir. Zhou Enlai wrote the poem "Untitled" as a gift, and after the poem he wrote the words "The poem on the right was written by me during my time", "Returning to the country to pursue other interests, getting ready to go, and saying goodbye to all my friends".
Dajiang: Su Shi of the Song Dynasty's "Niannujiao·Chibi Nostalgic" "The river goes eastward, and the waves are washed away, and the romantic figures of the ages." This generally refers to heroic songs. U-turn: Turn around vigorously, indicating great determination. Du Fu's poem: "The father of the nest turns around and refuses to go, and will eventually end up in the sea with the smoke." Suomi: profound and meticulous; here it means meticulous research.
Qunke: Social science was once called Qunke before and after the Revolution of 1911. One is all kinds of science. Helping the poor: saving the country from danger. Wall facing: Sit facing the wall. "Wu Deng Hui Yuan" records: Master Bodhidharma lived in the Shaolin Temple in Songshan Mountain, "sitting facing the wall", which is used to describe hard study.
Broken Wall: "Records of Famous Paintings" records: Zhang Sengyao, a famous painter of the Southern and Northern Dynasties, painted four eyeless dragons at Anle Temple in Jinling. He said that if you click your eyes, the dragon will fly away. Others thought this was ridiculous, so he lit the dragon's eyes. After a while, thunder and lightning broke out, destroying the wall, and the dragon flew away on the clouds. This means that after completing your studies, you will do something great for the motherland and people like a dragon flying through the wall.
It is difficult to reward a hero even if he crosses the sea: cross the sea and throw himself into the sea. This sentence means: Even if the ideal cannot be realized, throwing yourself into the sea and dying for your country is still a hero. This is borrowed from the story that when Chen Tianhua was studying in Japan, in order to protest against the reactionary authorities’ unreasonable expulsion of Chinese students and arouse the public’s awakening, he threw himself into the Omori Bay of Japan and died for his country.
