Appreciation and Translation of Yan Geling's Original Text

I. Original text

Song of Yan state

The autumn wind is bleak, the weather is cool, the vegetation is exposed like frost, and the geese go south.

I miss you and your guests, and my heart breaks. I miss my hometown, so why did you send it to stay for a long time?

I am alone in my room, afraid of forgetting my worries, and I don't feel tears on my clothes.

Short songs cannot be long.

The bright moon shines on my bed, and it's still early for the stars to flow west.

Penny and Weaver looked at each other from a distance. Why should I restrict the river beam?

Second, translation.

The autumn wind is bleak, the weather is freezing, the plants and trees are dying, and first frost has been in the Millennium. Swallows leave and swans fly south. I miss my lover who has traveled far away, and I am deeply saddened. I miss my hometown when I think about it. Why did you stay so long?

I keep my boudoir alone, and miss the gentleman when I am sad, which is unforgettable. Unconsciously, tears fell and wet my clothes. I took the guqin and fiddled with the strings, but my heart was very sad. The short song sang softly, as if it were still broken.

The bright moonlight shines on my empty bed, the milky way flows west, and the sleepless night is long. Cowherd and Weaver Girl, facing each other from a distance. What crime did you commit? It was blocked by Tianhe.

Third, appreciate

According to records and textual research, Ge Yanxing was originally the folk music of Yan Di (now north-central Hebei), which mostly reflected the pain brought to people by war and corvee.

This poem is no exception. Through the tone of the wife waiting for her husband to go out to serve, it reflects the suffering brought to the people by the continuous wars and corvees at that time, and places the poet's sympathy for the miserable life of the lower class.

This poem is the earliest and most developed seven-character ancient poem in China and occupies an important position in the history of poetry development. From the content, this poem is divided into three levels.

The first two sentences on the first floor describe the changes of natural solar terms, which are derived from Song Yu's "Nine Debates", "Sadness, autumn is also angry, and vegetation is declining". On the first floor, the author concentrated on thick ink, focusing on a bleak wind, withered vegetation and geese flying south in autumn scenery.

The second layer depicts the wife's deep thoughts and lonely worries. She guessed that her husband must be thinking about her at this time, and thus set off a new wave: since her husband misses her, why do you stay up late? Through her telling, her attachment to her husband is more clearly reflected.

The third layer describes the scene of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl crossing the river in the middle of the night.
