Shikuan Garden, also known as Dingjia Garden, is located in Hujiapaifang Street, Weifang City, Shandong Province. As of March, 2022, it covers an area of 2,000 square meters, is a pocket-sized classical garden building in northern China, and has the reputation of "the Pearl of Ludongming".

Shishui Garden was built in the Ming Dynasty and rebuilt by Ding Shanbao, the richest man in Wei County during the Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty. 1988 was announced by the State Council as a national key cultural relics protection unit.

Wanyuan Garden is a pocket-sized garden. When people say that it is only as big as ten water boards (the tools held by ancient courtiers when they went to the temple to face the king), it was named Wanyuan. The whole building faces south, with blue bricks and gray tiles, and the main body is brick-wood structure, which has both the solemnity and richness of the northern garden and the exquisiteness and elegance of the southern garden. It can be described as a masterpiece of the architectural art of the northern and southern gardens.

In the 11th year of Guangxu reign in Qing Dynasty (1885), Ding Shanbao bought the former residence of Hu Bangyi, the criminal department of Ming Dynasty, and converted it into a private garden, which Cao Hongxun named "Wanyuan".

Building scale

The World Wide Garden is rectangular in plane and consists of three axes of ancient buildings, namely, China, West and East. The central axis building and its courtyard are the main parts of the garden. There are 34 buildings, terraces, pavilions, pavilions, study rooms and 67 rooms in the park, which are connected by curved bridges and cloisters, and fish ponds and rockeries are dotted among them. The main building is Xiang Yan Building, with three bays and two floors.

It is connected to Guojia Lane of Shishuiyuan in the west and houses in the east and north. All three spans are different. Everything is a spacious garden-style courtyard, and the middle span is a pure garden. The three spans are parallel and the middle span is open, showing the style of the front garden.

Shiwan Garden is not only a famous ancient garden, but also has a unique development on the basis of absorbing the essence of north and south garden architecture. Now, it is also the Weifang Cultural Relics Exhibition Hall, which used to be the original site of Weifang Museum. Colorful cultural relics were displayed in batches and opened to the audience, adding rich cultural connotations to this famous garden.
