What do you think is the beauty of poetry?

What do you think is the beauty of poetry? This is a question I answered in the question-and-answer session of Wukong.

Although I have read a lot of Tang poetry and Song poetry, I still know nothing about the writing of old-style poems, but I have written a little about new-style poems and couplets. Through my own appreciation of poetry for many years, I think the beauty of poetry is mainly reflected in its condensed essence of literary formal beauty. Because poetry, unlike novel prose, can describe a thing in a large space, and poetry must express a thing in refined language and let people see its profound beauty.

I think there is another beauty in poetry, that is, the beauty of wording and sentence making. I envy the exquisite handling of words by excellent poetry writers. They are like an excellent craftsman, using words and bricks in their hands to create an exquisite poetry hall.

Another beauty of poetry is the beauty of association that transcends time and space. Rich imagination from the outside to the inside, from the inside to the outside, from far to near, pointing abuse, metaphor innuendo, talking about this and that, let readers appreciate the beauty of the author's understanding-the beauty of far-reaching and broad-minded spirit.

Poetry also has a rhythmic beauty-the rhythmic beauty of written language. Personally, I think it is a kind of verve beauty. The words beat rhythmically, as if it were a beautiful picture of people dancing with God. Sometimes, I think poetry and songs are the dialogue and narrative chat between poets and gods!

I have also read many modern poems. Although modern poetry is obviously different from ancient poetry in word number and rhythm, their essential beauty is the same in dancing with and talking with God. Finally, I want to exaggerate my feelings, that is: every beautiful poem has God in it!
