Li Qingzhao’s poem describing Jinan includes “Like a Dream Ling: I often remember the sunset at the creek pavilion”. The original text: “I often remember the sunset at the creek pavilion. I am so drunk that I don’t know the way back. I return to the boat late after my excitement and wander into the depths of the borrowed flowers. "The river pavilion in the poem is one of the seventy-two famous springs in Jinan."
Translation:
I think I often think of an outing. Once the sun sets, I am so intoxicated that I don’t want to go home. I played until I lost interest and then returned by boat, but got lost and entered the depths of the lotus root pond. How could I row out? I accidentally startled a group of gulls and herons.
This is a poem recalling the past. The few words seem to come out casually, but they are as precious as gold, and each sentence contains profound meaning. The first two sentences describe the feeling of intoxication and excitement. Then he wrote that he returned home after "exhausted his excitement" and "stumbled into" the depths of the lotus pond. It was a world of another, which made people linger even more. The last sentence, pure and innocent, is full of words but not full of meaning. This song "Like a Dream" expresses the taste and mood of her early life in Li Qingzhao's unique way, with a beautiful and pleasant state of mind.
