June 13 am
Little Square activities of Nanyuan residents under the lush camphor trees are very lively. Volunteers set the tables and chairs early in the morning, put up the activity banner, put the washed glutinous rice on the table, and lined up the red beans, candied dates, cotton thread and zongye needed for the activity.
During the activity, residents gathered around the table and were busy opening it. Some grandparents taught their grandchildren how to make zongzi. The old people held two zongzi leaves in their hands and taught the children how to fold them into the shape of a small funnel. They are very patient. The children listened carefully, gestured, and then learned how it looked. They can't fold it and then fold it until they are satisfied. Yes, it is! Resident Zhu Daye encouraged his grandson to say. "Add glutinous rice, candied dates ..." Children learn from grandpa and do it bit by bit.
"Grandpa, why do we make zongzi?"
"In memory of Qu Yuan, an ancient patriotic poet in China!"
Grandpa Zhu was teaching his grandson how to make steamed buns. He said, "Well, keep your thumb and ring finger pressed tightly. Oh, that's right! Turn the leaves over! " "Then tie the zongzi tightly with cotton thread and tie it well!" "Grandpa, my zongzi is wrapped!" The children said proudly with zongzi in their hands. "Good, good!" Grandpa Zhu smiled and praised his little grandson.
Some volunteers asked the residents to teach jiaozi, and the residents' patient suggestions appeared perfectly in the hands of volunteers. There was laughter at the event, and residents wrapped zongzi and took them home to share with their families.
