Gong Zizhen was born in a scholarly family. His grandfather and father are both officials and his mother is a writer. Influenced by her family, Gong Zizhen read a lot of poetry books since she was a child, but her exam results were not good. He took many exams before he got the Jinshi. Gong Zizhen officially entered politics during the Daoguang period, and the Qing Dynasty showed a declining trend. Although Daoguang Emperor was thrifty and diligent, he could not completely eliminate corruption. Gong Zizhen is honest, even a little loyal. He doesn't like many dark things, so he often says goodbye to people and exposes many shady things. So he offended many people, making it difficult for him to gain a foothold in officialdom, so in the end he simply resigned and retired to the countryside.
Gong Zizhen is very supportive of Lin Zexu's idea of banning smoking. He also saw many political problems at that time, but he couldn't speak with his own hands, so he was depressed. Gong Zizhen died abnormally, and many people speculated that his death was related to his former enemy. Some people speculate that Zhang Mu, who had been obstructing the smoking ban, killed Gong Zizhen, who was poisoned by emotional entanglements.
Gong Zizhen often went to Rong Qin Wang Mi when he was an official. Fu Jin of Rong appreciates Gong Zizhen's talent, so she coincides with Gong Zizhen. Later, when things were discovered by Rong, Gong Zizhen had to resign and return to China on the grounds of illness, while Fujin around Rong was driven out of the palace. Two years later, Gong Zizhen was secretly poisoned by Rong's people. Gong Zizhen's poisoning death was said by his son himself, which was justified. This so-called wonderful poet ended his bumpy life with a wonderful death, which is really embarrassing.
