"Seven Laws and Two Poems" is a set of poems written by Mao Zedong after he saw the news of schistosomiasis eradication in yujiang county county in People's Daily on June 30th 1958.
The first poem reflects the rampant schistosomiasis in the old society and the tragic experience of the working people in the epidemic area through the description of the desolate scene in the vast rural areas. The second one is a touching scene in which the broad masses of working people conquer nature, manage mountains and rivers, and fill ditches and kill snails on a large scale.
Although the whole poem is divided into two poems, it is actually an organic whole. The first poem is about the old society, and the second poem is about the new society, which plays a sharp contrast role. Its organization is like the ups and downs of a word, and the poem is vivid and profound, which is thought-provoking.
Extended data:
By comparing the long-term prevalence and serious harm of schistosomiasis in the old society with the rapid elimination in the new society, these two poems reveal the heavy disasters caused by the old society to the working people, and praise the heroic achievements of the socialist system and the working people in transforming mountains and rivers under the leadership of the * * * Production Party.
In terms of content, people are familiar with the historical story of Hua Tuo's treatment, the myth and legend of Cowherd, the praise of Yao Shun by later generations, and the natural sciences (astronomy) such as the rotation of the earth and the Milky Way.
It is closely connected with the reality of eliminating schistosomiasis and transforming mountains and rivers, making its image vivid, appropriate and easy to understand, especially the emotions revealed in the poem reflect the feelings of the people.
