A comparison between Fan Chengda, a poet in Song Dynasty, and Yang Wanli and Fan Zhongyan.

Although the Southern Song Dynasty was not strong militarily, it still made relatively high achievements in culture and produced many great poets with far-reaching influence, among which the four great poets in the Southern Song Dynasty were mainly Zhongxing. The life stories of Fan Chengda and Yang Wanli are mainly introduced here.

Yang Wanli was a famous poet in the Northern Song Dynasty. He was deeply influenced by Neo-Confucianism since he was a child, so he was very concerned about morality and the affairs of the court at that time. He was dissatisfied with the demise of the Northern Song Dynasty and the lack of ambition in the Southern Song Dynasty, which was reflected in his poems. But unlike the patriotic poet Lu You, Yang Wanli's main poems mainly praise natural scenery and daily life. Although he is a Neo-Confucianism scholar, unlike those rigid students later, he has his own views on ordinary things in life, so his poems often have a strong flavor of life and reveal a trace of interest in plain.

Yang Wanli's poetry creation is rich in his life, which has gone through several stages and imitated many ancestors. Later, he gradually formed his own unique style and played freely, but it also led to many of his poems that could not stand reading except a few excellent ones.

Fan Chengda was also a famous poet at that time. He has traveled widely and experienced a lot in his life, and his poems reflect a wide range of real life contents, but the most valuable ones are Jin Jixing's Travel Notes of the State of Jin and his later pastoral poems. The former describes what he saw and felt when he went to the State of Jin, mainly describing the grief of broken mountains and rivers and the desire of the people in the Central Plains to recover their homeland, and also expressing Fan Chengda's determination to serve the country with his death. The latter was mainly created during the ten years when he retired to the countryside, which truly reflected the living conditions of ordinary people at that time and was full of local interest.

Lu you fan Chengda

Lu You and Fan Chengda are both famous poets in the Southern Song Dynasty. Both of them have been to Sichuan, lived in Chengdu for some time and had close contact. They left many excellent poems for later generations, including patriotic poems and pastoral poems.

Lu You entered Shu in 1 170 and stayed in Shu for nearly nine years. During this period, Lu You traveled all over Sichuan and left many classic poems, while Fan Chengda entered Sichuan in 1 175 and left two years later, although he left poems because of his short stay. Moreover, according to historical records, Lu You had close contacts with Fan Chengda. It is said that they often have drinking parties in Chengdu, enjoy flowers and sing poems together. Lu You had a poetic description of his contacts with Fan Chengda, such as "There are many people in Jincheng, but there is little gas." It can be seen that Lu You attaches great importance to their feelings.

Next, I will briefly analyze some similarities and differences in their poems. Lu You is most famous for his patriotic poems, which are full of his patriotic enthusiasm. Among them, countless poems are entrusted with Lu You's will to serve the country and recover the Central Plains. Most of these patriotic poems are full of enthusiasm. In contrast, Fan Chengda's patriotic poems are conservative, lacking some * * *, but their patriotic feelings are still impassioned. It can be seen that Lu You's patriotic poems mostly express his great desire to recover lost territory from a personal perspective, while Fan Chengda's patriotic poems mostly express some reasonable frontier defense plans.

Their pastoral poems are also excellent, and the beautiful scenery of Chengdu is intoxicating. It can be said that their poems are similar in this respect, but there are still differences. Lu You relies more on his desire and ambition to serve the motherland, while Fan Chengda's pastoral poems are more leisurely.

Chengda Fan

During the Song Dynasty, many amazing figures appeared, and many people left a distinct track in China's literary world. What I want to talk about here are two famous ministers in the Song Dynasty, Fan Chengda and Fan Zhongyan. Both of them are famous poets and have great influence on later generations. So what is their relationship?

Portrait of Fan Zhongyan

Fan Zhongyan and Fan Chengda are both outstanding figures in the history of Song Dynasty. They have close family ties. All belong to the gusufan family. Throughout their lives, we will find that their lives are all similar. Their early life was relatively hard. They lost their father very early and realized the hardships of life. Later, they all gained fame through their own efforts, showed outstanding political talents and even gained diplomatic experience. They showed unyielding integrity and excellent diplomatic skills. Although they are all in high positions, they have never served as prime ministers, nor can they drastically change the state affairs at that time. And they are all in poor health, and they all have the idea of retiring in their later years.

Of course, they also have differences. First of all, as a figure in the Northern Song Dynasty, Fan Zhongyan faced a completely different situation from Fan Chengda, so his talent was different. Fan Zhongyan's achievements are more reflected in his educational thought and cultural influence. Moreover, Fan Zhongyan had been to the frontier fortress at that time and personally participated in the war, so he showed good military capabilities. Comparatively speaking, Fan Chengda's more achievements are reflected in his poetry creation. During the Southern Song Dynasty, he went to many places and visited many beautiful scenery, so he left many travel notes and poems describing the scenery of various places.
