Du Fu's family is a scholarly family. His distant ancestor Du Yu was a famous scholar and strategist in Jin Dynasty, and his grandfather Du Yu was a famous poet in the era of Wu Zetian. In such a family, Du Fu received a good education since childhood. As early as babbling, his mother taught him to recite ancient poems, from The Book of Songs to Songs of the South to Yuefu in the Han Dynasty. He has a good memory and can recite several poems a day. When he was seven years old, one day, his father taught him to recite ancient poems, including the name "Phoenix". Du Fu had long heard of the Phoenix bird, but he had never seen it, so he looked up and asked his father, "What is the Phoenix bird like?" His father told him: "This bird is the king of birds in ancient legends. The male is a phoenix and the female is a phoenix. Its head is like a chicken, its neck is like a snake, its collar is like a swallow, its back is like a turtle and its tail is like a fish. This bird is not a group with other birds, but a symbol of nobility. " Du Fu was deeply impressed by this. After a while, he said to his father, "People with aspirations should be like the phoenix, right?" Father stroked his head happily and said, "Yes, yes."
"Then I'll make a phoenix poem." Du Fu said. Father's eyes widened in surprise: "OK, read it out and I'll listen." So Du Fu shouted. In the poem, he eulogized his ideal phoenix to the fullest, and finally expressed his embrace: to be an outstanding person. Father was very happy to hear this, and trained him more attentively from then on.
By the age of 9, Du Fu had been able to write commonly used words, and he often wrote his favorite poems to adults. 14, 15 years old, the local poet must be present at the party, and sometimes people will call him down from the tree! At that time, there was a famous gathering place in Chang 'an, which was Wang Qi's home. Poets, scholars and artists often get together. What impressed Du Fu most was that he went to Wang Qi Palace through the introduction of his grandfathers, where he met many celebrities and was fortunate to enjoy the performance of the famous singer Li Guinian.
Du Fu left home at the age of 20. He traveled to wuyue, climbed Mount Tai and visited Zhao Yan, and gained a lot of knowledge. At the age of 33, he met another poet in Luoyang, that is Li Bai. In his forties, when the country was in turmoil, he left his hometown, drifted from place to place, and had no life, but he wrote poems that were told through the ages with blood and tears.
