There is a poem that Wang Anshi, the prime minister of the Song Dynasty, did not write The poem "Ode to the Chrysanthemums" he finished: "The west wind passed through the garden last night, blowing down the yellow flowers and covering the ground with gold." After reading it, Su Shi, a great scholar, thought to himself: The chrysanthemums dared to fight fiercely with the autumn frost until they died, scorched and withered, without falling petals. How could it be in the poem? Don't mess around! So he continued the poem with two lines: "Autumn flowers do not fall as much as spring flowers. Let the poet recite it carefully." Later, when he saw the falling petals of chrysanthemums in Huangzhou, he realized that he had corrected his mistake.
Wang Anshi once saw a southern poet and wrote two poems: "The bright moon is barking in the sky, and the yellow dog is lying in the heart of the flower." He thought: How can the bright moon bark? Even yellow dogs can’t sleep in the heart of flowers! So he changed his pen to read: "The bright moon shines in the sky, and the yellow dog lies in the shade of the flowers." Little did he know that Wang Anshi also corrected his mistake. "Mingyue" does not refer to the moon in the sky, but to a bird in the author's hometown that flies around in the sky during the day and chirps from time to time; "yellow dog" is a kind of insect that often lies in the heart of flowers after collecting honey, nor does it refer to the moon in the sky. After Wang Anshi came back, he was extremely dissatisfied with Su Shi's modification of his poems, so he demoted him to Hepu. After Su Dongpo arrived in Hepu, he went out for a walk one day and saw a group of children gathered in front of a bunch of flowers and shouted: "Yellow dog Luo Luo, black dog Luo Luo, come out quickly! Luo Luo, Luo Luo, Luo Luo." Out of curiosity, Su Dongpo walked over and asked the child what he was shouting. The child said, "Let's tell the bug to come out quickly so we can catch it." Su Dongpo walked closer to the flower and saw several small yellow and black bugs as big as sesame seeds squirming in the flower stamens. He asked the child, "What bugs are these?" The boy said, "Yellow dog bugs, black dog bugs." "Su Dongpo left the flowers and came to a banyan tree. When he heard a crisp bird singing on the tree, he asked someone else, "What kind of bird is this?" The someone else replied, "This is called the Moon Bird." At this moment, Su Dongpo heard something. Suddenly I realized that I had wrongly corrected Wang Anshi's poem.
However, later generations commented that as a prime minister, Wang Anshi was too narrow-minded. Although he understood local customs and people, he should not have established "Wu Anshi" because Su Shi mistakenly changed two lines of his poem. In fact, from a historical point of view, Wang Anshi punished Su Dongpo and wrongly changed two lines of his poems. This was only a secondary reason on the surface.
