Bai Juyi's Country Night

"Village Night" Bai Juyi frosted grass to cut insects, and people in the south of the village went north. I went to the front door alone and looked out at the field. I saw the bright moonlight shining on the endless buckwheat field, and the buckwheat flowers were like a dazzling snowflake. Bai Juyi (772-846), a poet in the Tang Dynasty, was born in Weinan, Shaanxi.

[Poetic] The poet outlined a picture of autumn night in the countryside: the frosted weeds were gray, and the cries of autumn insects were faintly heard in the grass. The night is deep, people have fallen asleep, and there are no traces of pedestrians on the country roads in the south and north of the village. The poet stepped out of the front door alone and looked at the vast fields. He saw the white buckwheat flowers, like a bright white snow in the bright moonlight. [Author] Bai Juyi was a great realistic poet in the Tang Dynasty, with nearly 3,000 existing white poems. This figure should be pushed to the top of the Tang Dynasty poets. Most of his poems satirize feudal rule and express their dissatisfaction, except lyricism. In his early years, he was enthusiastic about helping the world, emphasizing the political function of poetry and striving for popularity. His poetry style is simple and easy to understand, which can be regarded as simple and modern, so it is widely spread and has far-reaching influence on later generations. His 60 poems "New Yuefu" and "Qin Zhongyin" really make people sick, and every sentence must be strictly regulated, which is as famous as Du Fu's "Three Officials" and "Three Farewells". The long narrative poems "Song of Eternal Sorrow" and "Whispering" represent his highest artistic achievements. Middle-aged people encounter setbacks in officialdom. "Since then, the career has been long-term, and the world has never been opened." But he still wrote many good poems and did many good things for the people. Hangzhou West Lake and Bai Causeway commemorate him. In his later years, he sent his feelings to the mountains and rivers, and also wrote some small characters. There is a poem for Liu Yuxi: "Don't listen to the old songs, but listen to the new word Yang Liuzhi. It can be seen that he has read some new words. One of the poems, Flowers Are Not Flowers, has a hazy beauty, which was greatly appreciated by later poets such as Ouyang Xiu, Zhang Xian and Yang Shen. [Appreciation] This poem has no amazing pen, nor does it need gorgeous words and beautiful sentences. It just draws an ordinary country night in a simple way. It was written by a poet who lived in the countryside and was sad and sleepless because of the death of his beloved mother. Handy, eloquent, but fresh, quiet and poetic. " Frost grass and green worms cut, and people in the south of the village are unique. "Frost grass green, pointing out thick autumn colors; Cutting insects, rendering the sadness of autumn night. Pedestrians are extinct and everything is silent. Two poems clearly outline the characteristics of country night. Although the scenery here is purely written, as Wang Guowei said in "Words on Earth", "All scenery words are sentimental words", and the bleak scenery reveals the poet's lonely feelings. This feeling in the landscape is more attractive than direct lyric. The sentence "Look at Noda before going out" is not only a transition in the poem, but also changes the object of description from the village to the field. It is also a turning point between the two couplets, which draws a bleak atmosphere of the village night and unfolds another refreshing picture: the bright moonlight shines on the endless buckwheat field, which looks like a crystal white snow from a distance, bright and dazzling. " The bright moon is in the sky, and the buckwheat flowers are like snow. "What a touching scenery, the picturesque beauty of nature infected the poet, which made him forget his loneliness for a while and could not help but marvel. This magnificent scene is in sharp contrast with the description in the first two sentences. The poet skillfully wrote the emotional changes of the characters through the transformation of natural scenery, which was so flexible and free without trace; And simple and natural, it is kind and touching to read and memorable. No wonder Tang and Song poetry praised it as "plain and plain, without fake makeup, with its own age, and the closest to the ancient among the seven wonders".
