History of Fort Qi Jiguang

The top of Qijia Mountain is in a hurry.

From July of 1940 to July of 17 to July of February1,thousands of Japanese troops invaded Haikou from land, sea and air. China's army fought back and launched a bloody battle with the Japanese in Qijiashan, a small port in Beilun today. The two sides fought 10 for more than 0 times, and their positions changed hands for 7 times, finally driving the Japanese invaders out of the sea. In the battle, * * * killed nearly 400 Japanese troops and injured six or seven hundred. Japanese Pingxiang Chief Shu Yue committed suicide by caesarean section. More than 600 anti-Japanese officers and men were killed and 580 injured. This is the first time that China defeated the Japanese army in the history of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and coastal defense campaigns.

There are often striking similarities in history: Qijiashan, which was stationed in Qi Jiguang in the Ming Dynasty to fight against the Japanese aggressors, became the main battlefield for China's army to fight against the Japanese aggressors hundreds of years later in 1940. For various reasons, not many people know about this battle, even the local young people rarely know about it. This campaign was once called "Taierzhuang Campaign in East Zhejiang".

Yesterday, the reporter came to the top of Qijia Mountain in the anti-Japanese battlefield to reminisce about the scenes of blood and fire with relevant experts from zhenhai district Cultural and Construction Office and Archives Office, as well as veterans who personally participated in this battle and local people who witnessed Japanese atrocities.

Ren Gende (right), a veteran of the Anti-Japanese War, came to the newly completed "July 17 Qijiashan Anti-Japanese Monument" to remember the martyrs.

Today's Qijiashan is lush and quiet. A few meters away from the foot of the mountain, you can see the stone pillar archway standing upright, just like a strong man with indomitable spirit. In the center of the memorial archway, the word "Qijiashan" is vigorous and powerful, which was inscribed by former defense minister General Zhang Aiping. "Qijiashan has an unforgettable history, and Xiaozun Riverside looks forward to the future." The two lines engraved on the stone pillars are entrusted with the reverence and nostalgia of future generations.

"The place to fight is on the other side of the mountain. Let's go up from here! " Ren Gende, an old man who participated in the battle that year, walked to the front with crutches. He has been up the mountain several times recently-just at the beginning of this month, a monument was erected on the mountain, and he was one of the initiators and funders.

The hot sun shone directly on the mountains. While we are worried about the health of many elderly people, they keep talking about the past battles and the heinous crimes of burning, killing and looting by Japanese invaders.

"The Japanese are so inhuman. I saw them burn down all the houses in the village. After so many years, I haven't forgotten it at all! Don't say it's you, others will come to this mountain to have a look, and I am willing to bring him on a hot day! " Song Youkang, 78, said excitedly.

"Look! Look at that hill! " When he was about to reach the top of the mountain, the old man Ren Gende wiped his sweat carelessly, and then eagerly pointed to a green hill opposite.

"That was the 104 highland at that time, and it was the most fierce mountain we fought with the devils. The Japanese army shelled with warships, strafed with planes and finally shelled with heavy mortars. The position was occupied by the Japanese army, and we regained it at night and repaired the fortifications during the day. This has been restored several times. The japs have planes and cannons, and we only have a few mortars. The casualties of the troops were very heavy. A company had only nine soldiers left, but none of them retreated. They are all heroes of China. " Ren Gende, then the warrant officer of the National Revolutionary Army 194 Division, became more and more excited.

"In the past, when many villagers worked in the mountains, they all picked up shell casings. It is conceivable that the battle was fierce that year. " Ren Gende's words touched the memory of all the villagers. On the hill, under the scorching sun, the old people once again talked about the bitterness and suffering of those years.

Coming to the top of Qijiashan, the reporter saw a "717 Qijiashan Anti-Japanese Monument" erected earlier this month. The 3-meter-high stone tablet erected by Beilun District Cultural Relics Management Committee and Xiaogang Dou Wei Primary School Alumni Association recorded the battle in detail. There is a stone pavilion behind the monument, named Shengli Pavilion, which was built several years ago.

"Victory Pavilion was built for several years, but it didn't say what happened here. This year marks the 60 th anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, and it is even more important for future generations to know that history and not forget the national humiliation. " In front of the monument, the old man Ren Gende said.

Under the sponsorship of Xiaogang Dou Wei Primary School Alumni Association, Beilun District Cultural Management Committee organized a monument. News spread, immediately aroused the strong dissatisfaction of the old * * *, retired veteran comrades Zhang Yongxiang, Liu Genfa, etc.

Standing in front of this "Anti-Japanese Monument", 85-year-old veteran Ren Gende and many villagers in Xiaogang have too many sighs. They clearly remember the tragic situation of Japanese soldiers and our soldiers lying dead all over the mountain on the same hot summer day 65 years ago. Soldiers of the China Army, who are at a disadvantage in equipment, sang "March of the Sword" and fought hand-to-hand with the Japanese armed to the teeth under the cover of planes, warships and cannons. After paying a heavy price, the Japanese invaders who committed crimes in the future were finally driven out of the sea. Ren Gende said: "We are willing to spend some money to build this monument. So many comrades have been sacrificed for this land. Now, I live in this peaceful and beautiful land, and it is my responsibility to commemorate them and pass them on to future generations. "

On the other side of the monument, there is an inscription written by Yan Shuifu and Ren Gende: "Xiaogang is located on the south bank of Haikou, a corner of Zhaobaoshan. It is the gateway to eastern Zhejiang and an important coastal defense city. For hundreds of years, the people of War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and Xiaogang have suffered from war. " The inscription outlines the whole story of the bloody battle in Qijiashan, and records the feats of our anti-Japanese army's desperate struggle with the enemy, the unyielding actions of Ningbo people to support the front line, and the crimes committed by the Japanese invaders forever: "After landing, (the Japanese army) burned nearly 20 villages and towns such as Qingzhi, Tang Lin, Xiaogang, Port, Shawantou and Jiangnan Road, and burned them to the ground.

Standing on the top of the mountain, there are many small ports on both sides of the Yongjiang River, many high-rise buildings in Zhenhai, and the suspenders of the wharf are swaying. People living in peace are trying to build this land. Perhaps only by understanding that period of history can we truly appreciate the preciousness of peace; I also admire this land full of blood.

Qijiashan, a mountain of heroes, is full of the blood of martyrs and embodies the indomitable spirit of the Chinese nation.

"When the devil called, those batteries played a big role. Go and have a look! " After coming down from Qijiashan, the sweaty and naked old people took the initiative to make suggestions.

The Hongyuan Fort we went to was built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, and it was rebuilt at 1936. Two Krupp 24 cm caliber cannons were retained, and two reinforced concrete fortresses were added, with 17 cm caliber cannons. Along a cement path, you can go straight to the ruins of the fort. At the corner of the path, stands a national cultural relic protection sign. After reading the tablet, the old man Ren Gende insisted on reading the words about the battery: "I know the history of the battery, and I want to see if I have written it all right."

Today's battery, except the cannon, is basically well preserved, just like our national spirit, which still exists after all hardships. Entering the circular battery, the ammunition boxes on the inner side of the wall are still neatly arranged, and the holes in the wall and the gravel protruding from the solid wall seem to tell the world the suffering it has witnessed.

"1940 in the early morning of July 16, Japanese warships shelled in turn, and we fought back fiercely with strong artillery fire. After dawn, the Japanese army withdrew its warships to the open sea and threw shells with 12 aircraft. The main firepower was concentrated on this fortress, so that several cannons were damaged and could not be fired normally, and the searchlights on the top of the mountain were also blown up. In the early morning of 17, the Japanese army attacked and landed under the cover of artillery fire, and there was a bloody battle in Qijiashan for five consecutive days. " Ren Gende recalled.

"Anti-Japanese soldiers are not brave, but how can flesh and blood resist Japanese aircraft cannons? The key is to rely on the prosperity of the country so that it will not be bullied by foreigners! " Many old folks also said with emotion.
