After 1980s, with the establishment of Zhaotong Poets Association by Fu Zegang, Hu, Zhang Zhongquan and Yang Zhao, Xia, Song Jiahong, Fu Zegang, Jiang, Tie Yunfeng and others founded Wild Poetry Society, while Tie Yunfeng, Cao Xianlin and others founded Shansheng Literature Society. With the influence of its poetry journals "Wasteland", "Voice of the Mountain", "Everyone" and "Mountain Man" in Yunnan literary world, Zhaotong's poetry creation is extremely active, and the works of Zhaotong poets are frequently published in newspapers and periodicals inside and outside the province, which has inspired many young people, especially college students' literary dreams. The embryonic form of "Zhaotong Writers Group" is closely related to the active campus culture of Zhaotong Teachers College from the early 1980s to the late 1990s. Teachers of Zhaotong Normal University not only devote themselves to teaching and scientific research, but also create and publish many literary works, which have played a positive role in demonstrating the literary activities of Zhaotong Normal University and even Zhaotong area. Zhaotong Teachers College has gathered a large number of well-known writers and scholars, such as Zeng Lingyun, Chen, Yang, Zhou Tianzhong, Song Jiahong, Huang Ling, Hu Biao, Fu Zegang, Yang Zhao, Lu Chongling, Wu Kaiyou, etc. Most of them have taught in the Chinese Department. More than ten student associations such as Weeds, Maolin, Pioneer, Qiuyan, Honghu, Spark, Jiayuan and Nanxing Literature Society are active on campus. Weeds edited by Zhang Guangsen, Maolin edited by Liu Hulin, Lingguang edited by Zhuang, Ishihara edited by Ai Ziyou, Watchman edited by He Changfu, Pioneer edited by Lu Kaihong and Tillage edited by him have become a unique landscape of Zhaotong Normal University.
During this period, Zhaotong gradually formed a "literary fever". The mainstream media such as Zhao Bulletin, Zhaotong TV Station, Zhaotong People's Broadcasting Station, county newspapers edited by counties and county TV stations have their own characteristics. 1996, the supplement "Yanchi" of Zhao Bulletin won the China Local Registration Column Fund Award and the Excellent Editor Award. Many schools, factories and units have newspapers or magazines with authors ranging from students, workers and cadres to farmers at all levels, which can be described as "creation by the whole people". It is in this good atmosphere that "the whole people" like literature and creation that Zhaotong ushered in the golden age in the history of newspaper development. Nearly 80 newspapers and periodicals are active among Zhaotong literature lovers and become fertile ground for them to cook wine and literature. In addition to the active literary societies and the upsurge of running journals, Zhaotong Teachers College also has Qianchi edited by Yang Li, Zhaotong Drama Newspaper edited by Jiang, Nanxing Literature edited by Yan Ai, Yellow Fire in the Milky Way edited by Yin Mo and Shen, Rider edited by Wang Jun and Zhao Gaohu. Starting Point is edited by Li Xingde, Suijiang Popular Literature and Art by Zhu, Wool Textile Factory by Hu, Zhaotong Tobacco by Yun Tianhua by Liu Jiashou, Shuifu Literature and Art by Li and Ma Yuan Cement by Sun Kai and Ai Ziyou. These newspapers and periodicals, whether sponsored by the Federation of Literary and Art Circles, colleges and universities, primary and secondary schools, literary societies, or sponsored by government agencies, enterprises and towns, are mostly self-raised and given away free of charge, and have published many literary works with Zhaotong characteristics, which have trained a number of literary lovers.
Huang Yao, then vice chairman of Yunnan Writers' Association and dean of the Provincial College of Literature, said with emotion at the "Zhaotong Writers' Creation Seminar in Yunnan Province" that there are only a few colleges and universities in Zhaotong, plus high school students, but there are dozens of spontaneous literary societies, and students put down their meal tickets to run their own poetry magazines and tabloids. This kind of scene is rare in China, but it is very common here. "Zhaotong Writers Group" and "Zhaotong Literature Phenomenon" have aroused great concern in society and become a beautiful business card in Zhaotong City. Zhaotong Teachers College is undoubtedly the main front for the birth of "Zhaotong Writers Group" and the most prominent window for a glimpse of "Zhaotong Literature Phenomenon". A number of Zhaotong writers have grown up in the campus of Zhaotong Teachers College. The activities of the literary society of Zhaotong Normal University and the exemplary role of teachers and colleagues in creation and theory have written a moving movement of Zhaotong literary symphony. There are at least hundreds of famous writers and literary rookies who have moved from Zhaotong Teachers College to the literary world, accounting for half of the "Zhaotong Writers Group".
