From 1930s to 1960s, Severus ruled Greek poetry for 30 years. He is rooted in Greece's rich and long-standing national tradition, satirizes the contemporary with a historical perspective and expresses his feelings against the background of national destiny. In art, as a symbolic poet, he likes to express the activities of inner consciousness with hints, comparisons and associations, and write philosophical reflections, such as life and death, change and constancy, history and reality.
2000 was declared "Severus Year" by Greece, and it was also the beginning year of the exhibition "Poet and Citizen: George Severus". In order to commemorate the centenary of the poet Severus' birth, the exhibition was first held in his hometown of Izmir, and an international symposium on George Severus was also organized. Later, the exhibition was exhibited at the Technopolis National Center for Contemporary Art in Athens. During the period from 200 1, 10 to 1 10, as the guest of honor, Greece will be composed of poet and citizen: George? Severus moved to Frankfurt International Book Fair, Germany, which was an important milestone in the exhibition's world tour.
The theme and aesthetic features of the exhibition have been carefully designed to show a complete and vivid George Severus not only by introducing Severus' literary works (which have become classics up to now, but also have distinct contemporary significance), but also by presenting the life of the Nobel Prize in Literature poet and the historical, political and social background of his time.
The structure of the exhibition is divided into two parts: the first part is "Life Experience", which mainly introduces the life of George Severus and the principles of life in different periods; In the part of "Writing Career", the audience can fully appreciate the poet's mental journey when he created in fresh and bright language and pure and beautiful atmosphere. In this crisscross of time and space, color, image, lyricism and sound are perfectly integrated. As a prominent element, the sea symbolizes infinite life and eternal inspiration.
Nostalgia is the most creative emotion of human beings, and it is also the main thread that runs through the whole exhibition: recalling people and things in the past and recalling everything that has passed away, but this is by no means a blind obsession with the past.
In September, 2008, the exhibition "Poet and Citizen: George Severus" will take part in the China Greek Culture Festival and be held in the Greek Pavilion.
