The pinnacle of Du Fu's creation: "Three Officials and Three Farewells"

This year the "autumn tiger" is coming very hard. Although it is July, the entire state capital is like a steamer. Du Fu was so hot during the day that he couldn't eat, and there were so many flies that they buzzed and buzzed, which was annoying. At night, scorpions were infested in his house, which made him frightened and afraid to fall asleep.

He joined the army as a meritorious official. He was not a big official, but had many things to do. He had to read endless documents, which were all trivial things, but he could never finish them. Du Fu was a poet and thought he was noble. How could he do this job? I couldn't help but feel upset and angry, and wanted to yell. Looking at the green pines and hills of Huashan Mountain in the distance, I really want to go there to escape the heat, but how can I have the time?

Having said that, Du Fu is a responsible person after all. While he was in office, he wrote "A Picture of the Situation of Advancing and Destroying the Remaining Bandits", analyzing the situation between ourselves and the enemy, and discussing how the Tang army should avoid the real situation and attack the weak ones, and annihilate the Hu people trapped in Xiangzhou (near today's Anyang, Henan Province); he controlled the examination, so he wrote He wrote "Five Poems on the Policy Questions for the Jinshi Examination in Huazhou in the First Year of the Qianyuan Year" to let the candidates think about practical issues such as taxation, transportation, and currency systems. From these official documents, we can see Du Fu's military and political talents.

After working like this for half a year, winter came and he returned to Luoyang to visit his elders in his hometown. At this time, Guo Ziyi, Li Guangbi, Wang Sili and other nine military envoys gathered an army of 600,000 to besiege the Anqingxu rebels entrenched in Xiangzhou. They were expected to conquer them in one fell swoop and put an end to the war. But after all, Tang Suzong was a narrow-minded monarch. He was afraid of both the rebels and the military governors under his command. He was afraid that they would have heavy troops and become the second Anlu Mountain after the rebellion was put down, so he would not give the army a commander. In order to keep each other in check. Therefore, the 600,000-strong army was leaderless, watching each other, and was unable to attack for a long time. As a result, the fighter plane was delayed. Firstly, the Tang army was short of food, and secondly, Shi Siming came to rescue them, so the army was demoralized.

One day in March, 600,000 Tang troops fought a decisive battle with Shi Siming's 50,000 elite troops outside Xiangzhou City. When they were fighting inextricably, a strong wind suddenly blew up, rolling up yellow sand and uprooting big trees. It was dark for a while. Both armies were frightened and dispersed. In this battle, the Tang army suffered heavy losses. Shi Siming suffered less losses and pursued all the way, but won. Guo Ziyi returned to Luoyang with the remaining Shuofang army. The remaining Jiedu envoys took the remaining soldiers and went back. In order to reverse the situation of the war, the imperial court recruited troops from all over the country, causing panic.

When Du Fu returned to Huazhou from Luoyang, he encountered the war and chaos and saw with his own eyes the painful life of the people in the war. When Du Fu walked outside Xin'an City, he heard a noise in front of him. When he looked carefully, he saw that it was the county officials who were ordering troops. And the soldiers they ordered were clearly children. He went forward and asked, "Excuse me, are there no adults in your county?" According to the system at that time, a man who was twenty-three years old could be called an adult before he could serve in the military. When the county officials saw that Du Fu was old and looked like an official, they did not dare to neglect him and replied: "The superiors issued an order yesterday. All the adults have been recruited. Now we can only recruit middle-aged men." The so-called middle-aged men means middle-aged men. Men over the age of 18, people at that time developed late, and they still looked like children at the age of 18. "But the middle man is so short, how can he defend Luoyang?" The county official was speechless and just said: "This is what the superiors want." He shouted and urged a group of children to go.

The parents who saw off the children burst into tears and watched helplessly as their children left, just like watching a river flow eastward, never to come back again. They refused to leave until the children disappeared around the bend, leaving only some dust behind.

Du Fu felt uncomfortable, but if he wanted to quell the war, what could he do without recruiting troops? Therefore, he still comforted everyone.

"Folks, don't cry. If you cry all your tears, you won't be able to wait for the children's triumphant return. A few days ago, our army attacked Xiangzhou, hoping to quell it in one fell swoop. Who knows the outcome of the battle? The change was too rapid, and our army collapsed. Alas, what should we do? We had to recruit troops again. I heard that the troops recruited this time were stationed in Luoyang, and they were only doing digging work. It's not hard to raise horses in trenches. What's more, we are a righteous army, and the general loves his soldiers as much as his sons. So, everyone has to believe in Guo Pushe. Guo Ziyi.

Going further, you will pass by Shihao Village. It was getting late, so Du Fu stayed at a farmhouse. At midnight, I suddenly heard shouting outside. He woke up suddenly, thinking that the rebels were coming, so he got up in a hurry, looked outside, and saw bright torches, and several people who looked like county officials shouted loudly:

"The army is being recruited! The army is being recruited!"

The family where Du Fu stayed had only one old man, one old woman, and a daughter-in-law, who was nursing a baby. When the old man heard this, he hurried to the backyard, climbed over the wall and escaped. The old lady then went to open the door. The county official felt that the door was opened too late, so he looked angry and shouted louder and louder.

"Are there any men in your family?"

The old lady suddenly felt sad.

"Where are the men? There are only three sons in my family, and they all went to attack Xiangzhou. Two days ago, one son sent a message saying that the other two sons were all killed in the battle. Look, where are my sons? Are there men? Oh, and my daughter-in-law has a grandson who is still breastfeeding and hasn’t remarried yet. She doesn’t even have a decent skirt..."

The county official also showed a trace of sympathy and suddenly saw Du Fu standing aside.

"Isn't this a man from your family?"

"This is the master who lives in my house. He is an official of the imperial court."

Du Fu showed his official seal, and the county The official showed respect and his tone softened.

"But in your family... you have to have someone." "Then let me." The old lady straightened her back. 86 "You?" "Although I am old and frail, I can still go to the front line with you and make breakfast." The county official thought for a while and could only go to the errand like this. So the old lady followed the county official and left. Before leaving, she looked at her grandson again and said a few words to her daughter-in-law. Du Fu's heart was heavy and moved, and he couldn't sleep. In the middle of the night, I heard the old man climbing over the wall and coming back, hiding in the room and crying secretly. Alas, what can be done these days?

The next day, Du Fu said goodbye to the old man and came to Tongguan. When he saw that the city wall was being reinforced, he couldn't help but think of the defeat of Tongguan that year, so he gave a few words to the officials in Tongguan, telling them to guard the gate carefully. , don’t be like your brother Shu Han and underestimate the enemy.

Along the way, Du Fu heard a lot and saw a lot. He saw a newlywed couple who got married at night and separated in the morning. Of course the bride was sad and even wanted to follow her husband into the army. But after all, she understood the general situation and asked her husband to work hard in the army and not to think about her. Du Fu saw another old man whose descendants were all killed in battle. However, when he thought about national affairs, he resolutely threw away his crutches, put on his armor, and walked to the battlefield. However, he was worried that his old wife's thin clothes would not survive the cold winter, and he was full of inner conflicts. He also saw a veteran who returned from a defeat in Xiangzhou, only to find that his home was full of weeds and that the people in the village were either dead or had fled. When he picked up the hoe and went to cultivate again, he was called to serve by the county official. He had no choice but to comfort himself and said: "After all, he is serving in this state. If he travels far away, where can he come back?"

When Du Fu saw these people and things along the way, he was deeply shocked, so he wrote a poem recorded in the form. These poems are powerful, simple and unpretentious. This is the famous "Three Officials and Three Farewells".

This group of poems has become the highest peak of Du Fu's poetry creation.
