Du xiufeng
(Qing) Yuan Mei
Can't find the whole story, a mountain suddenly appeared, towering into the sky, straight into the South Big Dipper.
Nine times out of ten, the mountains and rivers in Guilin are strange, and Duxiufeng is second to none.
Climbing hundreds of steps to the top, you can enjoy the scenery of the whole city, but you can see the light fog and blue waves.
If the castle peak can stand as upright as a string, what is the obstacle to the isolation of life!
This poem was written by Yuan Mei when he revisited Guilin in his later years. Although there are few selected comments from various factions, they are almost forgotten. But after careful reading, we can still clearly feel the aesthetic pursuit of "the theory of soul"
The title of this poem is Du Xiufeng, but the poet didn't speak it out directly and give a general and plain explanation. Instead, it is split by the abrupt brushwork and exaggerated language of "no context, suddenly inserting a peak south". The word "insert" vividly describes the acute and unique aesthetic feeling when the poet and Du Xiufeng meet unexpectedly, and shows the dynamic beauty of Du Xiufeng. It also vividly highlights the extraordinary momentum of Du Xiufeng's solitary peak. At the same time, the lonely mountain is linked with the lonely life, giving people a feeling that the green hills are still tall and straight, so why should life be sentimental and express a positive and optimistic feeling.
This poem is extremely lonely and sublime, which embodies the lofty pursuit of loneliness and self-control. First, the author writes that Du Xiufeng looks like a sword inserted into the blue sky from a distance. It is tall and straight, with many wonders in Guilin, ranking first in the world, but far from being so majestic and strange. Climbing the stairs and overlooking the world, a city with boundless smoke and water is also open-minded. Seeing the scenery gives birth to feelings, and the wonders infect poets as lonely, arrogant and chic as Du Xiufeng. The first three links are all situations, and the last one is the natural expression of the heroic feelings of "Castle Peak is still as straight as a string and life is isolated".
This poem turns static into dynamic, writes static with dynamic, promotes dynamic, turns intangible into tangible, gives static Du Xiufeng a dynamic image, and shows the trend of "nothing in the world". The clever use of the word "insert" lies in the dynamic presentation of the process of mountain peaks from scratch to soaring, vividly depicting Du Xiufeng's unique posture.
