Writing background: Bing Xin was a famous poet in the May Fourth era. Her poem titles are connected with "Stars" and "Spring Water". "Stars" has 164 poems and "Spring Water" has 182 poems. The first poem was mainly published in the "Morning Post Supplement" in 1922. The poems have no separate titles and are only arranged by serial number.
Bing Xin later recalled the scene when she first wrote poetry. When her thirst for knowledge was at its strongest, she greedily read various books and newspapers in and out of class, and when she came across a sentence she liked, she would just say a few words. I copy it crookedly on the eyebrow mark of my notebook;
I am used to doing this, and sometimes I write down my miscellaneous feelings and memories anytime and anywhere. As the days go by, the number becomes quite considerable. Although it is roughly no more than three or five lines, behind these three or five lines, there is always something related to personal experience. When I see these words, I think of a very close and real scene, and I can't bear to throw it away.
