Remember the plum blossoms and go to Xizhou, break them off and send them to the north of the Yangtze River. The single shirt is apricot red, and the temples are the color of crow.
Where is Xizhou? Two oars bridge crossing. Shrikes fly at dusk, and the wind blows on the black mortar trees.
Under the tree is in front of the door, with a green thorn exposed in the door. The doorman didn't come, so I went out to pick red lotus.
Collecting lotus flowers in Nantang in autumn, the lotus flowers exceed people’s heads. Lower your head and pick up the lotus seeds. The lotus seeds are as clear as water.
Putting the lotus in the sleeve, the lotus heart is completely red. Recalling that Lang Lang is not here, I look up at Feihong.
Hongfei is all over Xizhou, watching the man go to the brothel. The building is so high that you can't see the top of the railing.
The railings have twelve curves, and the hanging hands are as clear as jade. The rolling curtains are high in the sky, and the sea water shakes the sky green.
The sea water is a long dream, you are worried and I am also worried. The south wind knows my wishes and blows my dreams to Xizhou.
What is a good poem? I once said in the form of pictures that the topmost layer is of course won by blending, but other than that, all other techniques are lost.
"Xizhou Song" is such a good poem. Although it is still far behind "Nineteen Ancient Poems", it has surpassed most ancient Chinese poems.
"Xizhou Song" comes from "Yuefu Poetry Collection Miscellaneous Songs and Songs" (first included in "Yutai New Odes" compiled by Xu Ling). The author's name has been lost. It was probably written by literati during the Southern and Northern Dynasties. Polished folk songs of the Southern Dynasties. This type of anonymous poem is very interesting. Firstly, it is probably not written by one person. Secondly, as soon as it appears in front of people, it shows a very high artistic level. It is admirable.
What is "Xizhou Song" about? I have said before that there are "three ways of reading" when reading poetry, that is, reading the story, reading the emotion, and reading the context. Only by going deep into the layers can you understand the wonderful meaning.
Let’s take a look:
A girl in apricot red clothes wants to go to Xizhou to pick plum blossoms. Does she really want to pick plum blossoms? She just wanted to break off one and send it to him far away in Jiangbei. Where is Xizhou? It's very close. It's just a matter of getting on the boat and paddling a few oars. But where is he? Thinking of him, my mind suddenly became confused. In the evening, the shrike fluttered its wings and flew away. Did it have a tryst with its lover? The tallow tree suddenly whirred, ah, is he back?
The girl gently opened the door a crack, revealing the hairpin on her head. She looked and looked, but no one was there. Until the door was fully opened, there was still no one. At this time, a neighbor passed by and looked at her suspiciously. The girl lowered her head, fearing that someone might see her thoughts, so she pretended to go out to pick lotus seeds. The weather has entered autumn, and the girl feels slightly cold in her thin clothes. The lotus flowers in Nantang are already taller than people.
The girl lowered her head to play with the lotus seeds. The clear lake water reflected her lonely shadow. She hid some lotus seeds in her sleeves. The lotus heart was really red and transparent, just like her red face when she saw him. . But where is he now? She looked up at the sky and saw a flock of swan geese flying all over Xizhou. She couldn't help but go up to the high balcony to look for him. She had been leaning on the railing and looking into the distance for a long time. She sighed and lowered her hands, which were as bright as jade.
The sky is so high, and the sea water is an empty green; the sea water is like a dream, and there is nowhere to express my sad heart. Maybe only the south wind knows my thoughts, please blow my feelings throughout Xizhou. Bar.
Poetry translation has always been a thankless task. If you want to translate a poem like "Xizhou Song", it will not work without some space, because it leaves behind every word and every sentence. There are many gaps, and it is best to fill them in reasonably. Otherwise, ordinary literal translation is worse than no translation.
Poetry is for tasting, just like good wine, the more you taste it, the mellower it becomes, and the more you taste it, the more intoxicating it becomes.
The beauty of "Xizhou Song" lies in two aspects. One is the ever-changing emotions and hesitation. Like a scene from a play, we see this young girl listening to "The wind blows tallow trees", thinking that the man has arrived, and falling in love with each other; "Picking lotus seeds in Nantang", holding lotus seeds in her sleeves, and falling in love with each other; "Looking up to fly like a flying red", the building is high and disappearing, Three lovesicknesses. My lovesickness rises and falls three times. I thought I could talk about it at the end, but I just gave it to the "south wind" and couldn't express it to my heart's content. This is indeed a true psychological portrayal of a pregnant girl.
The second one is four sentences with one rhyme, which are linked together. The arrangement of four sentences per line at the beginning is based on four sentences and one rhyme. In terms of phonological effect, it creates the effect of inseparation. Don’t underestimate the role of rhyme, because the direct perception of phonology is to feel the Qi of the poem. When the Qi and pulse are smooth, the body will be full of energy. Feeling refreshed; if the Qi pulse is not smooth, the person will feel depressed and sick. This is the same principle. Secondly, the rhetoric of Lianzhuge is used. This point will be mentioned in general interpretations. In fact, it is shaped like a thimble, with the front and back ends, making it look like flowing clouds and flowing water. Shen Deqian of the Qing Dynasty commented in "The Source of Ancient Poetry" that "continuity creates each other, tarsus follows calyx, swaying endlessly, and the emotion becomes more and more vivid." The meaning is the same.
In the recurring love of lovesickness, we see the image of a pitiful and lovely girl; but what is worth noting is, what is behind such beauty?
You must know that "Xizhou Song" was polished by literati after all. What was its early prototype folk song like? I'm afraid it's similar to "Wei Feng Bo Xi". The object of his longing may be trapped in the war and never come back. From the back, it's a complete tragedy.
There are several lines in the poem that are widely sung, "When I am picking lotus in the south pond in autumn, the lotus flowers are more than human heads. I lower my head to pick up the lotus seeds, which are as clear as water."
"However, in line with the principle of "turning this self into another self", "The sea water is dreaming, you are worried and I am also worried. The south wind knows my wishes and blows my dreams to Xizhou. " can touch my heart even more. The feeling of lovesickness remains unchanged forever. Maybe you and I will also borrow "South Wind Blowing Dreams", and this is the charm of classic poetry.
Leng Zhai commented on this poem: The sorrow and thoughts are endless, like lotus dew beads, crystal clear; and blending like wine, the lovesickness is used as medicine, reaching the highest state.
