Extended data

With the passing of life, Xue Tao began to get tired of the hustle and bustle of this world. She left Huanhuaxi, moved to Bijifang (near Chengdu today), built a poetry building, and spent her last time alone.

In the summer of the sixth year of Daiwa (832), Xue Tao closed his eyes peacefully. The following year, former Prime Minister Duan Wenchang personally wrote an epitaph for her. The tombstone reads "Xue Tao's tomb of Hongdu, surprisingly girl book".

"Spring Watch" was written by Xue Tao when he lived in seclusion in Huanhuaxi. At this time, although she was just over forty, she had gone through many vicissitudes. During 12 years' humiliating career as a musician, she was sent to the desolate border and once held a prominent position as a school bookkeeper. After finally getting rid of music and regaining her freedom, she started a new life by the Huanhua River in a simple robe.
