The writing background of Qiu Ci Yiyi

The writing background of "Autumn Poems No. 1" was written when Liu Yuxi was demoted to Langzhou (today's Changde, Hunan) after participating in Wang Shuwen's reform movement and failed. This poem was written in 805 AD, the first year of Yongzhen, when Liu Yuxi was 34 years old. Wang Shuwen's reform movement encountered strong opposition from eunuchs, vassal towns, and bureaucratic forces, and ultimately failed. Shunzong was forced to abdicate, Wang Shuwen was sentenced to death, and Liu Yuxi was demoted. Although he suffered a serious blow, Liu Yuxi did not feel depressed. When he was enjoying the autumn scenery outside Langzhou City, he felt deeply about the traditional impression of autumn being depressed and desolate, and composed this poem "Autumn Poetry No. 1". In this poem, Liu Yuxi praises the magnificence of autumn and expresses his optimism and high-spirited enterprising spirit. Contrary to the sad autumn mood of others, he enthusiastically praises the autumn scenery with unrestrained enthusiasm and vivid pictures. Beautiful, a high-spirited and inspiring song.
