In the marine history of China, there are both the myth of Jingwei's reclamation and the legend of stormy waves, both the feat of Lin Zexu's smoking in Humen and the fiasco of the Sino-Japanese War. The ocean brings us too many amazing stories and legends, as well as endless exploration of the unknown world.
China has a coastline of10.8 million kilometers and a blue land of 3 million square kilometers. We are rich in marine resources. We can proudly say that we are a maritime power, but we can't say that we are a maritime power. From 1840, foreign powers attacked our country with artillery fire, and our country began a humiliating century-old modern history. The ocean is surrounded by strong neighbors, and our national strength is weak. People with lofty ideals all over the country are heartbroken and running around looking for ways to save the country. Mr. Chen Jiageng, a famous patriotic overseas Chinese, witnessed with his own eyes the decline of the country's maritime strength and was bullied by the foreign powers. 1920 Established Jimei Navigation Education in his hometown, determined to train advanced navigation talents for the country and enhance the country's navigation strength. It is precisely because there are many patriotic people like Mr. Jia Geng who have made immortal contributions to the development of the motherland with the heart of serving the country. Shortly thereafter, there was exciting news that China's first aircraft carrier "Liaoning" was launched in Dalian and officially delivered to the navy for service. Hearing this news, I am extremely excited and proud of the gradual enhancement of China's maritime strength and the progress of science and technology.
I know that the enhancement of national strength can not be separated from the efforts of many researchers, and I also want to be one of these researchers and make my own contribution to the country's scientific and technological progress. Fortunately, I took this step and successfully passed the postgraduate examination of Dalian Maritime University. I once again came to a school attached to the sea and had the opportunity to make efforts for the development of the ocean. The 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China put forward that "it is our duty and responsibility to improve the development capacity of marine resources, develop the marine economy, protect the marine ecological environment, resolutely safeguard the national maritime rights and interests and build a maritime power".
