First, the course objectives:
The teaching objectives of this course should conform to the provisions of the curriculum standard on "Poetry and Prose" series, specifically:
1. Cultivate a strong interest in appreciating poetry and prose works, enrich one's emotional world, cultivate healthy and noble aesthetic taste and improve literary accomplishment.
2. Read excellent poetry and prose works at all times and in all countries, understand the ideological connotation of the works, explore the rich implication of the works, and appreciate the artistic charm of the works. Examine the ideological content of ancient poetry with historical vision and modern concept, and give appropriate evaluation.
3. With the help of reference books and related materials, read China's ancient poems that are not too difficult (equivalent to the recommended level of ancient poems in Appendix 1) and recite a certain number of famous ancient poems. Learn the basic knowledge of ancient poetry and rhyme, understand the common sense of China ancient culture, and enrich the accumulation of traditional culture.
4. Learn the basic methods of poetry and prose appreciation, initially master the respective artistic characteristics of Chinese and foreign poetry and prose, pay attention to discovering the meaning of works from different angles and levels, and constantly gain new reading experiences.

Third, teaching methods.
1 Whether it is poetry or prose, background knowledge (including literary common sense, cultural common sense, historical background and ideological background) is the focus of teaching and must be given to students in teaching. Chinese is nothing more than accumulation, and the accumulation of these background knowledge is as important as the accumulation of language. At the same time, background knowledge is the key to interpret poetry.
2. Special attention should be paid to the teaching of vocabulary and sentence patterns in classical Chinese. The ultimate goal of poetry and prose is to accumulate language and cultivate independent reading ability.
3. To make the basic issues of ideological content clear and thorough, students must have a clear understanding of the basic thoughts and feelings of the works after learning a poem and an essay.
