I have read more than twenty chapters of prose poems since Mr. Li Li translated The Whole Poem. These prose poems are different from our common (especially popular in China) prose poems in writing and style. After reading it, they have a refreshing feeling. Reading them can broaden our horizons. I chose two chapters and made some simple introductions.
The glade in the Woods is about nature, and the poet presents this "glade that can only be found if it is lost" with simple language and sketches, that is to say, it is inaccessible. The whole article is a narrative. Narration is a headache for many prose poets. I think the "narrative" in this poem seems dull, but in fact almost every sentence hides the front of the machine, which is very intriguing. "The open space is wrapped in a forest that suffocates itself", and it is really appropriate to write about the forest in the form of "self-suffocation". "On the ground, the shadow suckles the shadow", and the shadows compete with each other, and a sense of loneliness is faintly visible. How novel and excellent the word "breastfeeding" is! Here, he wrote: "Who has lived in this life?" No one can answer ",and then:" Only archives remain young and immortal ",which is ironic language. There is also "gypsies can remember, but people who can write can forget." Record, forget ",but there is also a very deep, confused and melancholy feeling about the world, but all the cold pens and ink are extraordinary skills."
The poems written here all belong to the realm of "having me", stating the poet's knowledge and thoughts. The last paragraph of "I" seems to have disappeared. "There is a sunbathing beetle sitting on a telephone pole humming, and its wings are behind a flashing shield, as delicate as a parachute made by an expert." The poet returned the "clearing in the forest" to the uninhabited land of nature and gave it to the beetles basking in the sun, which meant that there was a little "another village", which made people realize the unparalleled vitality of nature and sublimated the artistic conception of the whole poem.
Reply is about "personnel". An old letter that has long been out of date, that's all. What is there to write about? The poet is narrating. In fact, all the details are related to his emotional agitation, and all the narratives are lyrical. Please note: "The house has five windows", four of which are bright, but the fifth one, "Facing the black sky, thunder and storm", what does this mean? Surrealism, illusion, mystery, the poet's usual technique directly hit his heart: "I am standing at the fifth window." That letter. "Do poets still need to" express "their ideas? This is the secret of poetry and prose poetry.
The Abyss between Tuesday and Wednesday is a reverse exaggeration of time, in order to highlight the sigh that "twenty-six years have passed quickly". After this "transition", the poet's thinking naturally turned to the inevitable destination: "Has this letter been answered?" I can't remember. In order to explain the long time, it is difficult for a poet to meet the requirement of "poetry" simply by saying "that was a long time ago". It is just a kind of prose, even a "report" language. The poet used a word from the sea, heart. Even the novel image like Toad on the Lake on August Night expresses the boring details of "gathering together without reply". If we stop here, poetry still belongs to the category of "reality", and Trondstrom, who pursues fantasy, "waking up from a dream" and "revealing secrets", is never satisfied with it. "I will answer one day", and the pen turned to "I was dead at that time", so he stepped into an imaginary "that city" and launched a bizarre. Can reading his prose poems help us to open up more imagination, dreams and fresh ideas in the "limitation"? I think it's possible.
