Both of them are advocates of the ancient prose movement, and they have made outstanding achievements in poetry creation. They are very close friends and have the same talent. The close political encounters laid the foundation for the ideological content of their poems. Liu Zongyuan and Liu Yuxi lived in poverty and seclusion for most of their lives, so their creative content was gloomy and sad, which showed their persistent spirit of not losing heart and not insulting their ambition in adversity, and became the main content of their poetry creation, so they were also called "Liu Liu".
