1. Bai Juyi (772-846), a native of Xiaguan (now Weinan, Shaanxi Province), was a scholar in the 16th year of Zhenyuan, and successively served as Zuo Shiyi, Doctor Zanshan in the East Palace, Jiangzhou, Hangzhou, Suzhou Sima and Taifu.
2. Bai Juyi was another outstanding poet who made outstanding achievements in poetry creation after Du Fu in Tang Dynasty. He divided his poems into four categories: satirical poems, leisurely poems, sentimental poems and miscellaneous poems. Among them, satirical poems "do things for the time, relieve people's illness and make up for the lack of time", which well reflected the spirit of his poetry theory.
