Gu Kaizhi was a famous painter in the Wei and Jin Dynasties. He is good at painting figures, especially women, which is related to his filial piety.
When Gu Kai was born, his mother passed away. His father was originally a court official. Dissatisfied with the corruption in the officialdom, he resigned and went home to write poems and compositions. Gu Kaizhi often rushed into the study and asked his father: "Everyone has a mother, where is my mother?" Unable to resist his son's repeated inquiries, his father had no choice but to tell the truth.
Gu Kaizhi cried a lot and became taciturn from then on. I just thought about what my mother looked like when she was born, and asked my father again and again what my mother's face and figure looked like. After hearing his father's answer, he had his mother's figure and face in his mind. He vowed to paint a portrait of his mother.
He drew one after another, but his father always shook his head when he saw it: "It doesn't look like it." He was not discouraged and continued to paint. When he drew the 10th picture, his father said: "The body, hands and feet are somewhat similar." He was ecstatic and worked harder on the drawing. Soon, the portrait he painted was approved by his father: "It looks like it, it looks like it, but the eyes are not quite the same." He continued to paint the eyes with great concentration, and revised the painting. When he sent the portrait to his father again When he saw her in front of her, his father was overjoyed: "This is your mother."
He was only 8 years old this year. By the age of 20, Gu Kaizhi was already a famous painter. When his colleagues asked him who he had worshiped as his teacher, he replied: "My mother is the teacher who has always been alive in my heart."
Gu Kaizhi (about 345-406 years), courtesy name Changkang, Jinling A native of Wuxi (now Wuxi, Jiangsu Province), he was a famous painter during the Eastern Jin Dynasty in my country. The ancients spoke highly of him, saying that his brushwork was "vigorous and continuous", like "spring silkworms spinning silk", like "spring clouds floating in the sky and flowing water flowing on the ground", so elegant and delicate. We can deeply understand this from Gu Kaizhi's masterpiece "Luo Shen Fu Tu". In the scroll "Ode to the Goddess of Luo", the Goddess of Luo appears many times, either looking back at the waves on the water, or inviting people to swim among the clouds. The gracefulness of her expression and the swaying of her clothes fully reflect the characteristics of Gu Kaizhi's paintings. More importantly, this painting also shows the "lively" charm of ancient Chinese paintings.
