In his life, Gan Long wrote 426 13 poems, twice as many as Yang Wanli's 20,000 poems, but Yang Wanli had more than 4,000 poems, and the third Lu You wrote nearly 10,000 poems, including more than 9,000 poems. The Complete Tang Poetry contains more than 2,000 poems written by the Tang Dynasty, with only 48,000 poems. Judging from the amount of poems, Qianlong's poems almost catch up with the sum of these poets.
Qianlong inherited the excellent legacy left by Kangxi and Yongzheng, and also created a prosperous time. It is in this excellent situation that Qianlong was able to enjoy himself and travel around the mountains, resulting in "six trips to the south of the Yangtze River", which also laid a hidden danger for the decline of the Qing Dynasty! Among the poems written by Qianlong all his life, the poems about Queen Fu Cha are remarkable. Queen Fu Cha died of depression due to the premature death of her son. After Fu Cha's death, Qianlong wrote many mourning poems for her, with sincere feelings, such as "Imperial Poems Volume 2 and Volume 4":
I can't get what I want, but dreams are fashionable. I also know that there is no such thing as frying. Pei Huan's voice was suspicious, and Luan Huang's letter never passed. Pepper painting empty imagination, two full moons. The heart is often knotted, and the dust is far away. When Fang traced Fu Tong, he wore a fine gauze. There is no end to love, but gifts should be added. Know your worries and use the old and new temples cream. Gan Long's deep affection for Fu Cha was devoted to his pen, so he was very moved when he read these poems.
But other poems are just so-so. As for a poem written by Gan Long, it was selected as a primary school textbook, and there is a legend in this poem. It is said that Ganlong happened to meet a snowy day when he was touring the south. Seeing the snowflakes fluttering, he couldn't help generate writing poems, so he coughed, cleared his throat and wrote a poem: "One piece after another, two pieces, three pieces, four or five pieces. Six dollars, seven dollars, eight or nine dollars, "I'm stuck here. Six, seven, eight or nine.
I can't think of the next sentence. At this moment, Liu Yong stood up and said to Gan Long, your poems really make good use of numbers, and my minister is also interested in poetry. Can I let my minister have the last word? When Gan Long saw someone rescue him, he was naturally happy to push the boat forward and granted Liu Yong permission, so Liu Yong added the last sentence: "I can't see the flying reeds." This sentence rhymes and is relevant, which is the finishing touch. The snowflakes all over the sky fell one by one, flying and spinning, and finally fell into the white reed flowers, only to see a vast expanse of whiteness. The snow fell into the reed flowers and was lost!
This poem can be selected into primary school textbooks, probably because the first three sentences are as simple and easy to remember as nursery rhymes. As long as you remember the last sentence of the whole poem, you can basically remember it. The last sentence is very artistic and suitable for children.
There are few poems written by Gan Long, which can be widely read. This has a lot to do with his love of writing saliva poems. According to the grand view of unofficial history in Qing Dynasty, all the poems written by Gan Long were "unfinished at the beginning", or improvised or scribbled, and then "prepared" by courtiers.
Of course, the most important thing is that although Qianlong has the heart to write poetry, he has no talent as a poet. It's not what you want. It's unnecessary to write too much. It's really much worse than the song of the Great Wind written by Emperor Gaozu Liu Bang.
