Those two sentences in "Sending People to Wu" by Du Xunhe in the Tang Dynasty are the most famous among the descriptions of the architectural features of Suzhou City in the past dynasties. Suzhou was called Wu and Wuxian in ancient times, and it was the capital of Wu State in the Spring and Autumn Period. The overall layout of the city has remained unchanged despite more than a thousand years of vicissitudes. However, as the economy has prospered from generation to generation, residential buildings have increased from generation to generation, and there are fewer and fewer free spaces in the city. Therefore, it is said that "there is little free space in ancient palaces." The narrative is just right. But there is another objective reason for "little idle land". Suzhou is a veritable water city.
