Military poetry

The song "Speak from the Heart" was written by Shi Shunyi and composed by Shi Xin. This song describes the voice of a PLA soldier with all kinds of feelings of ordinary people, and expresses the firm emotional position of PLA soldiers in loving and defending the motherland and people in the new period.

Everyone is looking forward to a colorful world, and everyone is eager for a free life. The life of soldiers is simple and boring; The training of soldiers is heavy and arduous. But the hearts of soldiers are always fiery, full of passion, full of passionate fighting spirit and full of desire for victory. Only in the dead of night do soldiers think of their mothers and homes. The author felt this and has always sincerely admired the soldiers and wrote this hymn.

1979, when Shi Shunyi was transferred from the Army Field Force to the Air Administration Art Troupe, he vowed to write a song for the soldiers that they loved to sing and listen to. He took advantage of the experience of military life and often asked the soldiers what they really thought. Some soldiers said that they wanted to promote their work. Some soldiers say they want to join the party; Some soldiers said they wanted to find a good job. However, they have a common heart: being a soldier really misses home!

How to generalize individual consciousness into collective consciousness? It's normal to be homesick. How can we surpass ourselves? Shi Shunyi thought hard. There are also homesickness in ancient frontier poems, but most of them are simple and narrow homesickness. Modern military poetry will not be accepted by soldiers if it does not raise homesickness to the height of defending the motherland. Shi Shunyi was suddenly enlightened. He wanted to organically combine the soldiers' feelings for the motherland and their relatives in their hometown through the theme of "homesickness".

It was not until the morning of 1989 that his "heart" was finally brewed and it was easy to take it out. This sentence was suppressed by Shi Shunyi for ten years. However, once you say it, you speak your mind. At first, he wrote this poem with an unsatisfactory title, called Confessions of Soldiers. Then one day, he picked up the lyrics again and couldn't help but change the original title to tell the truth.
