This poem is about Bai Haitang, but poets often express their feelings in it. This poem was written by Cao Xueqin, but when Cao Xue wrote it, she had completely entered the role of Lin Daiyu.
You see, the painting on the stone is just a scene of Lin Daiyu standing against the west wind and leaning against the tree in the hazy night! The night here, the west wind, is the frustrated situation she faces in Jiafu, and the word "tired" describes her mood at the moment.
Lin Daiyu's love poems are precious. Her poems about flowers are hidden, and there are many poems about people with flowers, as many as 1 1 in all 27 poems. Bai Haitang, chrysanthemums, peach blossoms, catkins and other plants described by Daiyu have completely endowed people with life. They are illusory and real, and they are like weeping. Some poems directly lament the misfortune of beauty, which shows Daiyu's empathy and extraordinary poetic talent.
Bai Yong begonia
Half-rolled curtains cover the door, and the ice is ground into earth jade as a basin.
Steal a pear for three cents and borrow a plum blossom for a soul.
The moon cave fairy sews robes, and the woman who always wipes crow marks in my heart in autumn.
Who do you complain to in silence? Tired of the west wind, the night has fainted.
This seven-rhythm poem is the first collective poem when Tan Chun proposed the establishment of the Daguan Garden Begonia Poetry Society in the 37th session. Rhyme is restricted by Tanchun, and Tanchun, Baochai, Baoyu and Daiyu each write one. Later, Xiangyun came to make up two more. This poem by Daiyu was called "romantic and unique" by Li Wan, president of Haitang Poetry Society. Critics have always believed that this poem has a unique personality and style, which shows Daiyu's aloof and arrogant character, lonely and sentimental mood and brilliant talent.
The first couplet is not about flowers directly, but about people who appreciate flowers first. "Half-volume" and "half-mask" write the charming and shy state of the flower watcher, which sets off the flowers; "Fragrant curtain" is a curtain made of incense, which is very suitable for Daiyu's status as "Princess Xiaoxiang". "Kethleen" has always been used as a metaphor for the simplicity and purity of flowers, but Daiyu thinks that the soil and pots where flowers are raised are also unusual, so she calls them "ice" and "jade", which makes her look different, and also writes Daiyu's character of "leading an honest and clean life".
In the previous sentence, plum blossom is used to describe the brilliance of Bai Haitang's qualification, and in the next sentence, plum blossom is used to describe the fragrance and detachment of Bai Haitang's character. Here, "theft", "three points white", "borrowing" and "a wisp of soul" are used, and the concept is ingenious and unique. This is a poem in Lu Meipo's Xue Mei in the Song Dynasty: "Mei Xu Xun is white, and the snow loses a piece of plum fragrance".
The sentence above the neckline means that in the middle of the moon, in the cave of the moon, in the fairyland of the moon, and in the moon palace, white seaweeds are like white clothes sewn by immortals; The immortal refers to Chang 'e; Dress costume refers to clothes made of white silk, which can also symbolize mourning and is often used as a metaphor for white flowers in poetry. For example, in the Song Dynasty, Su Shi wrote in the poem "Two Rhymes of Yang Xianmei Flowers": "Meet in the dark forest and get drunk in Baling." Another example is Gao Qi's poem "Plum Blossom" in the Ming Dynasty: "Meeting is a fairy, and life is full of water and bamboo." Bai Haitang is like a sad woman wiping her tears in a boudoir in autumn. For these two poems, Zhi Yanzhai commented: "Knocking on the side is more true than losing yourself." The poem implicitly describes Daiyu's self-image and state of mind, and also implies that Daiyu died early in her previous life for the crimson pearl fairy grass by sewing the fairy, and points out that Daiyu still owes tears by wiping her tears.
Tail couplet is about Bai Haitang's shyness and timidity in the west wind in the middle of the night, which conveys Daiyu's sadness but has nowhere to talk, so she has to let the west wind destroy her desolate mood.
