The Stations of the Cross, starting from the Lion Gate in the east and following the footsteps of Jesus’ death, the “Way of the Cross”, the 14 stations of the “Way of the Cross” full of legendary stories, give people too many insights. The "Way of the Cross" is the legendary route along which Jesus was led to the hillside to be killed after being sentenced to death, carrying a cross. Every Friday afternoon, priests from churches along the way walk the Stations of the Cross. Thousands of people stood praying and singing, reading relevant chapters of the Bible in Latin, Greek, English and other languages. The scene was grand and touching.
The Church of the Holy Sepulcher, also known as the "Cathedral of the Resurrection", is the site of Jesus' tomb. It is the most famous holy place in Christianity and one of the Christian cathedrals in Jerusalem. Christians, regardless of denomination or church affiliation, regard Jerusalem as a holy place. As pilgrims flock to Jerusalem during the major Christian festivals, the first destination is the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
The construction of this huge church was started by St. Helena, the mother of Constantine the Great. This majestic building is divided into three parts, including the Resurrection Church on the tomb and the magnificent rectangular Crucifixion. Church and cross on the rock.
The cathedral was destroyed by fire in 614. It was later built, demolished, and rebuilt. It can be said that it had a rough fate. But fortunately, today we can still see this church that carries a lot of history. Now part of the cathedral is the cathedral of the Orthodox Bishop of Jerusalem, and the other part is occupied by the Catholic Franciscans; the Coptic Church, the Syrian Church and the Armenian Church also each occupy part of the church.
