The brewing industry in Qufu has a long history, which is said to be more than 2, years, while the brewing in Confucius began in the Ming Dynasty. At first, the brewed wine was specially used for offering sacrifices to Confucius. Later, because more dignitaries visited Confucius House, it gradually turned into banquet wine. Emperor Qianlong visited Qufu for eight times in Qing Dynasty. On his last visit to Qufu (in 179), he visited his daughter Yu (the wife of Kong Xianpei of Duke Yansheng in the 72nd generation). At the banquet hosted by Emperor Qianlong, Kong Xianpei took out the wine of Confucius' house to entertain his father-in-law. After drinking it, he repeatedly praised the delicious taste of the wine. During the dinner, he said to Kong Xianpei that he would bring me some altar wine and a lamb from Xiguan when he went to Beijing in the future. Later, Confucius went to the palace every year to pay tribute to everything, except Confucius' family wine and lambs. Therefore, later generations have the name of "lamb wine".
