Introduction to Yuan Dynasty Poetry
Yuan Poetry is a poem of Yuan Dynasty introduced in the third volume (Chapter 9 of Volume 6) of History of China Literature edited by Yuan Xingpei, a professor of Chinese Department in Peking University. As an orthodox literary style, Yuan Dynasty poetry is obviously at a low ebb compared with the previous generation. However, there are quite a few poets and works in Yuan Dynasty, and there are also many minority writers who are good at poetry. The poet's tendency of belittling the Tang poetry in Song Dynasty in Yuan Dynasty had a great influence on the poetry in Ming Dynasty. Prose in Yuan Dynasty developed along the road of ancient prose in Tang and Song Dynasties, which created the style of writing in Ming Dynasty.
