Geoffrey Chaucer (1343-14001kloc-0/October 25th), the father of English literature, is recognized as the greatest English poet in the Middle Ages and the first poet to be buried in the tomb of a poet in Westminster Abbey. Chaucer was a famous poet, philosopher, alchemist and astronomer (he wrote about the astrolabe for his ten-year-old son Louis Lewis). In addition, he actively devoted himself to the cause of serving the people and worked as an official, courtier and diplomat. Among his many works, the most famous are The Duchess's Book, The Hall of Fame, The Length of a Proud Wife, troilus and The Pastor, among which the most famous is The Tales of Canterbury.
