Bai Juyi (772-846), a poet in the Tang Dynasty, was a Buddhist in Xiangshan, whose ancestral home was Taiyuan (now Shanxi). When I arrived at my great-grandfather, I moved to Shimonoseki (now north of Weinan, Shaanxi). A famous poet in the Tang Dynasty, together with Li Bai and Du Fu, was called "Du Libai".
Bai Juyi's poems are full of charm and appeal to both refined and popular tastes. Even ordinary old ladies can understand them and spread widely. He wrote more than 3,000 poems in his life. In his nine books with Yuan, he wrote "so much that his mouth is sore and his elbows are sore". It means that after reading for a long time, my mouth is sour, and I keep writing. My elbow has a cocoon, and the world calls it "the king of poetry".
He writes poetry very hard. There is a boastful poem in Bai Juyi's "The Meaning of the Drunken Man": "The meaning of the drunken man is not in the wine, but the sorrow leads to the western afternoon", which means that he is crazy after drinking and lacks self-control, just like being possessed, writing poems from noon to sunset in the western hills. Later generations called it "the poet's magic".
