What if the autumn wind blows if you don't defend yourself?
Spend Albert Venn Dicey for a while, but a few leaves sink.
The weak spring breeze came early, and the long night was full of dew.
Shake it down after the rivers and lakes, and you are afraid to waste your time.
Translation:
The reed cannot keep itself from being broken. Facing the autumn wind, it is helpless.
Snow-white reed flowers have not fallen yet, but several leaves have sunk into the water.
Weak reeds germinate in early spring, and clusters bear the dew attack on autumn night.
Although the reeds growing on the banks of rivers and lakes wither late, they are still afraid of the time wasting.
Creative background: After beginning of autumn in the second year of Gan Yuan, Tang Suzong (759), Du Fu, then a general of Huazhou, abandoned his official and went west, staying in Qin Zhou (now Tianshui City, Gansu Province) and going south to Tonggu (now Chengxian County, Gansu Province) after winter. Du Fu wrote this poem in Zhou Qin because he felt a sigh of life when he saw the armor destroyed by the autumn wind.

Jian Jia is a five-character poem written by Du Fu, a poet in the Tang Dynasty. This poem vividly describes the scene of Jia Jian in the autumn wind, expresses deep sympathy for Jia Jian's fragile situation, which is often hurt by snow, water waves and night dew, and shows the poet's broad mind of worrying about the country and the people. The couplet pointed out the characteristics of Jian Peijun's late decline, but he still regretted wasting his time, which reflected a deep sigh for his life experience and a sense of loss of the sages' aspirations. The whole poem is based on the artistic conception proposition in The Book of Songs and the charm of The Songs of Chu, with delicate brushwork, vivid images and profound sustenance.
The first two couplets began in autumn and wrote about the destruction of autumn wind. Reed with dry leaves can't protect itself when it is blown around by autumn wind. Although "weak", the neck couplet describes the nature of Jia Jianchun's early germination and growth as soon as the day arrives. The ending couplets are characterized by "falling back", and despite all kinds of destruction, they are still laggards in the rivers and lakes.
