Wang Anshi's poem "Deng Fei Lai Feng"

Wang Anshi's poems about Feilaifeng are as follows:

1. Original

There is a towering tower at the top of Feilai Peak. It is said that crows come and the morning sun rises. As written in a China poem, we are not afraid of dark clouds covering our sight, because we are already on the top of the mountain.

2. Translation

Climb the tower at the top of Feilai Peak. I heard that you can see the rising sun here every day when crows are there. I am not afraid of clouds blocking my vision, because I am standing at the top of Feilai Peak.

3. Introduction to the work

Deng Fei Lai Feng is a seven-character quatrain written by Wang Anshi when he returned to his hometown in Linchuan, Jiangxi at the age of 30 in Yinxian, Zhejiang. This is his first official work. At this time, the poet was in the prime of life and had extraordinary ambitions. He just climbed Fei Laifeng to express his broad feelings and lofty political ambitions.

4. Appreciation of works

This poem reflects the dauntless and enterprising spirit of the poet to realize his political ambition.

In the first sentence of the poem, the poet used the exaggerated word "Chihiro" to write the height of the ancient pagoda on the peak and write his own foothold. The second sentence of the poem skillfully writes out the brilliant scene of the rising sun seen on the tower, showing the poet's vigor, ambition of reform and confidence in the future, and becomes the emotional tone of the whole poem.

The last two sentences are the essence of the whole poem and contain profound philosophy: people should not only look at the immediate interests, but also look at the overall situation and the long term.

The third sentence "not afraid" is powerful, and "floating clouds cover your eyes" is a classic. According to Professor Wu Xiaoru's research, people in the Western Han Dynasty often compared floating clouds to evil villains, such as the Shen Xinyu Wei film: "Therefore, evil ministers cover sages as floating clouds cover the sun."

The fourth sentence uses "at the highest level" to enhance the realm of poetry, which has the spirit of foresight. The author's finishing touch is the conclusion. As far as the situation is concerned, the word order should be "because I am at the highest level, I am not afraid of clouds covering my eyes", but the author turns it upside down, saying the result first, then the reason, and the inversion of one cause and one result shows the transformation of poetic vision. Although this is a common method of writing poetry, it also shows the author's profound conception.

It is a common phenomenon in Song poetry to expound political and academic views, discuss current events and comment on history with poems. This poem contains a strong interest in landscape description. The poet did not describe the process of climbing the mountain, nor did he describe the scenery in detail.

But from the beginning, I put myself at the top of the "Chihiro Tower" on the mountain to express my feelings. The whole poem is composed of four sentences and twenty-eight characters, which contains extremely rich ideological content and abstract meaning in concrete things. The author's political and ideological ambitions and self-confidence expression for the future have been fully reflected.
