Maanshan culture

Dangtu folk songs are popular on both sides of the Yangtze River in eastern Anhui. As early as the Six Dynasties (220-589), Dangtu folk songs were recorded, and the famous White Song and Dance hosted by Liu Song and Liu Yu was one of the pulses of Dangtu folk songs singing. Li Zhiyi, a poet of the Northern Song Dynasty who lived in Dangtu for a long time, sang more than 20 songs, such as "Fu Tian Treading on the Waves" and "I live at the head of the Yangtze River and you live at the end of the Yangtze River", which belong to the category of folk songs. In the Qing Dynasty, Huang Yue, a native of Dangtu, wrote more than 50 Poems about Yuhu Zhi Zhu, which mainly featured local customs and represented the highest artistic level of Dangtu folk songs at that time.

After 1949, Dangtu people wrote and sang folk songs, which reached its peak in the late 1950s.

Dangtu folk songs are rich in language, complete in structure, diverse in tunes and unique in singing. Representative tracks include "Beating Wheat Song", "Cattle Song" and "Sister Picking Bean Trees in the Field". Maanshan was awarded the honorary title of "China City of Poetry" by the Chinese Poetry Society.

Ma 'anshan is the place where Li Bai will die. Since 1989, Maanshan China International Poetry Festival has been held around the Double Ninth Festival on the ninth day of the ninth lunar month (it was renamed China Li Bai Poetry Festival with the approval of the State Council in early 2005). 1992, Maanshan China International Poetry Festival was listed as one of the tourism festivals in China International Tourism Year 100 by the state. 1995 has been identified as one of the five major festivals by the Anhui provincial government.

Maanshan China International Poetry Festival and Maanshan China Li Bai Poetry Festival not only formed their own activity characteristics, but also became an important symbol of Maanshan City, winning the title of "Poetry City" for this steel city.
