Zhou Yu, viceroy: Six poems handed down through the ages, endless charming romantic feelings.

In Romance of the Three Kingdoms, one of the four classical novels, Zhou Yu, the governor of Jiangdong Sun's Group, became the foil of Zhuge Liang, the prime minister of the dynasty, with a voice of "Yu, He Shengliang", and his ugly image of being narrow-minded and jealous of talents was deeply rooted in the hearts of the people.

However, Zhou Gongjin in history was a truly great husband:

Although Zhou Yu's image was tarnished by the rapid spread of Romance of the Three Kingdoms among the people, for thousands of years, many literati have been full of praise for Zhou Gongjin's poems.

Here, Yue selected six of the most representative Zhou Yu's poems from hundreds of poems to pay tribute to Zhou Gongjin, a charming and romantic poet. Please enjoy!

Lipper

Red cliff song farewell

Yue Comments: These seven ancient poems were written by Li Bai, a great poet in the Tang Dynasty, when he passed through Jiangxia (now Wuhan, Hubei). The first four sentences highlight the great image of Zhou Yu by describing the tense situation in Battle of Red Cliffs. The last four sentences are his feelings when he said goodbye to his friends.

Although there are only four sentences and 28 words, Li Bai writes generously and grandly. By borrowing the allusion of "Dragon Fighting Wild" in Zhouyi, the great war hundreds of years ago is re-presented, which can be described as an explosion of imagination.

Li Duan

On hearing her play the harp

Yue Comments: This five-character quatrain was written by Li Duan, a poet in the Tang Dynasty and one of the "Ten Talents in Dali". By describing a woman who plays the guzheng, she deliberately plays the wrong string to attract the person she loves, creating an elegant and ethereal fairyland.

In the last two sentences, Li Duanhua used the allusion of "Zhou Lang, an ancient song".

Yue's simple translation is that Zhou Yu is very proficient in temperament. Even if you drink a lot of wine, as long as the player makes a slight mistake, you can immediately detect it and turn to look at the player.

Awesome, there should be applause this time!

Military commanders can win battles with thousands of troops, and writers can play the harp and chords. Zhou Gongjin truly responded to the words of Jiang Gan, a famous person in the Eastern Han Dynasty: "Elegance is beyond words."

Du Mu

red wall

Yue Comments: This seven-character quatrain was written by Du Mu, a poet in the late Tang Dynasty, when he passed through the ancient battlefield of Chibi (now Wuchang, Hubei). Through the reverse deduction of Battle of Red Cliffs, Dongfeng and two stunning beauties "Er Qiao" became the highlights of Zhou Yuxiong's strategy.

So, is Battle of Red Cliffs's victory only due to the coincidence of the east wind? In Yue's view, Zhou Yu had the assurance of defeating the enemy before the war.

This fully shows that before Battle of Red Cliffs, Zhou Gongjin had a foolproof plan to defeat Cao Cao's army.

Of course, Du Mu wrote this poem mainly through historical events to express his frustration and imply that his ambition will not be reused. The so-called "East Wind" and "Er Qiao" are just an artistic technique.

Su Shi

Niannujiao Chibi Nostalgia

Yue Comments: This queci was written by Su Shi, a writer of the Northern Song Dynasty, a bachelor of Duanming Temple and a minister of rites, when he lived in Huangzhou. At that time, the 47-year-old Dongpo layman wrote all about Zhou Yu's infinite scenery, and at the same time lamented that time flies and expressed his broad-minded feelings about life.

It should be said that Su Shi's Ode to the Ancient Battlefield in Chibi describes Zhou Yu's talent, tolerance and achievements in a vigorous and desolate style, which is worthy of being a masterpiece of "Farewell".

Chengda Fan

Hanging Zhou

Yue Note: Seven Ancient Poems was written by Fan Chengda, a litterateur in the Southern Song Dynasty. He was a prime minister who participated in and discussed state affairs. Besides lamenting Zhou Yu's achievements in her life, she also lamented her untimely death.

Fan Chengda was born in Wuxian County, Pingjiang Prefecture (now Suzhou, Jiangsu). He is outstanding not only in poetry and prose, but also in his career. It's a pity that he had to retire to Shihu and became a layman in Shihu. It is actually a grievance to express one's ambition through Zhou Yu's memory and emotion.

Zhenbanqiao

Nian Nujiao Zhou Yuzhai

Yue Comments: This strange poem was written by one of the "Eight Eccentrics in Yangzhou" in Qing Dynasty. It not only has Su Dongpo's heroic spirit of "one river does not return", but also writes Zhou Yu's heroic spirit. Unfortunately, Zhou Yu did not achieve Wu Dong's career in the end.

Zheng Banqiao was frustrated all his life. He showed people with a wild and cynical attitude, and also achieved many talents such as poetry, calligraphy and painting.

However, in the tenth year of Yongzheng in Qing Dynasty (1732), when Zheng Banqiao wrote Niannujiao Zhou Yuzhai, it was the time when he entered Beijing after having obtained the provincial examination, and he was in a very good mood and full of poetry, which also made this famous article.

Well, six poems praising Zhou Yu have come to an end. If you ask Yue which one he appreciates most, I'm afraid all friends who are familiar with Yue should understand:
