Steps/Methods
Now that the "rice for cooking" is ready, we can prepare a table of "good dishes". Next, let’s take a look at the “five steps” for making e-greeting cards in Word.
The first thing is to start Word. Look, Word has created a new blank document, waiting for you to draw the blueprint of the greeting card.
1. Set the background theme
First we set the "theme" of the greeting card. The "theme" here follows the concept of "theme" of the Word document. Its original meaning is a set of elements and color schemes with a unified design style for Word documents, including background images, bullets, fonts, horizontal lines and other document elements. Themes make it easy to create professional-looking, beautifully designed documents. Taking advantage of the unique advantage of Word "themes", we can easily set the background pattern of greeting cards. Please see the following operations:
1. Select the [Theme] command in [Format] in the main menu.
2. Select the corresponding theme in the pop-up [Theme] dialog box, such as "Autumn Leaves", etc., and then preview the theme page effect in the "Theme Demonstration" pane. If you press Click the "OK" button to apply this theme style to the Word document. Of course, you should consider the taste of the recipient of your greeting card and choose a theme accordingly.
3. Look at this picture, it is the effect after applying the "Autumn Leaves" theme.
The biggest advantage of applying a theme is that it can easily modify the page style. You can repeat the above steps and select different themes to form different page styles. Suitable for making greeting cards for people with different tastes.
2. Insert pictures
After the page style of the greeting card is positioned, the picture format just prepared can come in handy. Because our next task is to insert pictures, this step is not difficult for users who have been exposed to Word:
1. Click the menu [Insert] → [Picture] → [From File].
2. Select the picture in the [Insert Picture] dialog box that pops up and press "OK".
Next, we put the picture into a text box. This is to add a border to the picture to beautify it.
3. Click the "Drawing" button in the Word toolbar, and a "Drawing" toolbar will appear on the status bar at the bottom of the Word interface.
4. Click the "Text Box" button in the "Drawing" toolbar and move the mouse to the text area. At this time, the mouse will appear in the shape of a "+" and you can drag out a text box.
5. Select the picture. Eight small control squares will appear around the picture, indicating that the operation has been selected. Then drag it into the text box.
At this time, the picture is placed in the text box, which beautifies the picture and makes it easier to move the picture arbitrarily. Because as long as you move the text box, the picture will also move with it. At this time, you can use the selected text box or picture, and use the eight small control squares to adjust its size and position on the page accordingly. I won’t go into details about the specific operation. The effect after adjustment is shown in the figure.
6. Select the text box, click the "Shadow" button in the "Drawing" toolbar, and select a shadow style.
7. Look, a shadow has been added to the text box, so that the text box looks three-dimensional.
3. Insert artistic words
Although red flowers are good, they still need the support of green leaves. Good pictures should be accompanied by text, so that they can achieve "both pictures and text". No, express your beautiful wishes through artistic words!
1. Click the "WordArt" button in the "Drawing" toolbar to pop up the "WordArt Library" dialog box, select your favorite WordArt style, and then press "OK".
2. Enter the blessing text in the "Edit "Artistic" text" dialog box, and set the font and font size.
3. The artistic text is automatically generated. Select it and drag it to the appropriate position. The effect as shown in the picture will appear. Now please take a look. Does it already look like a greeting card?
Note: The eight small white squares around the artistic text in the picture can be used to control the shape change of the artistic text, and a small yellow pointed block can be used to rotate the artistic text. You can use these functions as needed.
4. Insert music
Nowadays, many popular electronic greeting cards are accompanied by music. Yes, a greeting card with deep affection, if it is set off by music, then It can further show the sincerity of the greeting card maker. So, how do we add music files to Word documents?
1. Click the [Object] submenu in the menu [Insert], click the "Create from File" tab in the [Object] dialog box, and then press the "Browse" button to select the prepared music document.
Finally press the "OK" button.
2. At this time, an icon related to this music file appears in the text. If you click on the icon, WORD will automatically call an external media player program to play it.
3. If you are not satisfied with the icon in the picture, you can select "Show as Icon" when performing step 1, and then press the "Change Icon" button that appears. Haha, the rest is done. It’s just a matter of filling up the hard drive to find a beautiful icon!
Up to this point, our greeting card task has almost been completed, and in the end only the final synthesis and beautification task remains.
5. Final synthesis
Our final task is to take two steps:
1. Do you still remember the text materials prepared at the beginning? Just paste it directly into the WORD document. Then click the menu [Format] → [Font] to set the font and size of the input text.
2. Click the text box outside the picture, then hold down the Shift key, and then click the word art. At this time, you can select the picture and text box at the same time. Right-click the mouse and select the shortcut menu [Combination] → [combination]. This feature combines various components of a greeting card.
Finally, you can also adjust some settings of the greeting card according to your own needs, such as adding text, adjusting the position, etc. Voila, a beautiful greeting card was born! Compared with other greeting cards, do you think it is inferior? But that’s not important, what’s important is that this is a DIY greeting card of your own! Moreover, the recipient can open it using the most common WORD!
The advantage of using WORD to make e-greeting cards is that it is easy to learn and use, and is suitable for all ages. Although it cannot be compared with professional software, it is still a good assistant for beginners.
