Xinjiang Institute of Archaeology is not open to tourists.

In 2003, archaeologists in China unearthed a mummy, Princess Xiaohe, at Xiaohe Site in Lop Nur, Xinjiang. Although it has gone through 4000 years, this mummy is well preserved, and her face and smile are clearly visible.

Archaeologists lamented its beauty and integrity and excavated it at the Xiaohe site, so it was named "Xiaohe Princess".

Was first discovered.

As a member of the northwest joint investigation team organized by Sven Hedin, Begemann discovered a "thousand coffins" tomb in Lop Nur, Tarim Basin, Xinjiang. Begemann named it Xiaohe Cemetery. His "smiling princess" came from this grave.

However, after the "smiling princess" shocked the world, it sank into the desert again. No one can find her after that.

Be discovered again

Seventy years later, when the mysterious smile of another Xiaohe "princess" reappeared under the hands of archaeologists, Xiaohe, a cemetery that worried the world for more than half a century, finally began to uncover many mysteries.

In 2003, National Cultural Heritage Administration officially approved the archaeological excavation of Xiaohe Cemetery. "Before that, each of us was familiar with the archaeological report" Archaeology of Xinjiang "written by Begemann 70 years ago, and we all knew that the mystery of human civilization hidden in the river would be uncovered by ourselves."
