Postscript of Reading the Sixth Psalm (Second Edition)

Note: The following is an interpretation of Psalm 6, which I read online. Personally, I feel very good. Forward and share!

title

This poem is the first one of the recognized confessional poems *, and its words naturally come from the mouth of the confessor, because it expresses sadness (verses 3, 6 and 7), humility (verses 2 and 4) and hatred of sin (verses 8) at one time, and these feelings are the unchangeable characteristics of a confessor who turns to God. Oh, Holy Spirit, arouse our true inner regrets. The title of this poem is: "Dedicated to the chief musician of Nigino, above Mignon, the poem of David, that is, the poem of David. Give it to the director and call it eight points with a stringed instrument. " Some people think that it refers to bass or bass, in short, any tone that conforms to regret poetry. But we can't understand these musical terms, and even "Selah" can't be translated accurately. However, this will not hinder our understanding. We may lose a little message of firm confidence, but it is also very small. This also proves that poetic writing is ancient, because even scholars who study Hebrew can't find out the lost meaning of these languages. The lack of meaning of these words is not accidental (if I don't believe in the design of God's sovereignty, I will think it is accidental), and their existence itself declares that they come from David's ancient words.

separate into parts

You will notice that this poem can be well divided into two paragraphs. First of all, from verses 1 to 7, the poet prayed with great sadness. Then, at the end of the eighth section, another different theme appeared. The poet changed his tune. He changed from minor to sublime melody. He changed to a high-pitched voice full of confidence, claiming that God had heard his prayer and saved him from his predicament.

After reading the first paragraph, in order to see this paragraph as a whole, we will now analyze it paragraph by paragraph. "Lord, please don't blame me when you are angry." The poet is clearly aware that he is to blame, and he deeply feels that some kind of blame will surely come to him, even if it is not for trial, but also to strengthen his confidence and sanctify him. "The millet is clean with wind, and the soul is refined with punishment." It is foolish to pray that the hand of God will not punish us. It is a golden hand that tests us by punishing us. He doesn't ask God to stop blaming completely, because he will lose his hidden blessing. But he said, Lord, do not rebuke me in your anger. It's a good thing if you remind me of my sin; But, oh, don't scold me like an enemy, let your servant's heart sink in despair. As Jeremiah said, "Lord, punish me leniently, and don't punish me in anger, lest you make me nothing." I know I must be punished, although I will cringe under your staff when I don't know whether it is good for me; But, God, "don't punish me in fierce anger", or this stick will turn into a sword and stab me to death. Therefore, I hope we can pray to our kind God that when the punishment of his grace has not been completely lifted, we can get sweet comfort by knowing that this discipline is "not in anger, but in the love he promised".

Lord, have mercy on me. Because I am weak. "Although I deserve to be destroyed, please pity me for being so fragile. This is the right way when we try to argue with God. Not because of your kindness and greatness, but because you are a sinner and your smallness. Cry and say, "I am weak", so that God will give me strength and not crush me. Don't vent your anger on this fragile container. Let the wind blow gently over the sheared lamb. Treat a withered flower gently and piteously, don't tear it off the stem. This is undoubtedly a patient's prayer to impress the sympathy of those who fight with him, "Be gentle with me,' because I am weak'". "Guilt shattered the poet's pride and took away his boastful capital, so he could know how powerless he was to obey the law. His worries have made him so weak that he may not keep his promise. " I am very weak. "The original text is like this," I am depressed, "or wither like a withered flower. Oh, dear, we know what this means, because we also see the stain in our glory, and our beauty is like a withered flower.

"Lord, please heal me. Because my bones are fighting. " He prayed for medical treatment here, which can not only alleviate the pain, but also remove and heal the scars caused by it. In Hebrew, his bones "tremble". His bones trembled with fear; Not only the body is shaking, but also the bones that support the whole body are shaking. "My bones are shaking." Ah, if the soul feels guilty enough to make bones fight; When a man sees the fire of hell below him, the angry God above him and the dangers and doubts around him are enough to make his hair stand on end. He might say, "My bones are shaking." However, we can at least think that this is a physical disease, even if the physical disease is only an external symptom, the poet continued, "My heart has also been greatly frightened." The trembling of the soul shows that this is a morbid soul. This is not the health of the soul and the trembling of the bones, but the fear and trembling of the soul itself. That is the real pain. "Lord, when will you save me?" This sentence came to an abrupt end, because it could not be expressed in words, and sadness and a little comfort flooded him. However, the poet still has some hopes; But that hope only exists in his God. He cried out, "Lord, how long will this be?" The greatest expectation of all those who are sad and contrite is that Christ enters the soul in his glorious priestly robe; In fact, the reappearance of Jesus Christ in some form is always the hope of saints.

Calvin's favorite sentence is "Domineusqueko"-"Lord, how much longer?" The terrible pain brought by the miserable life made him unable to say anything else. This is undoubtedly the cry of the saints under the altar, "Lord, when?" This is also the cry of the saints waiting for the Millennium glory, "Lord, when will you come in your chariot?" Those who have experienced the mental journey of sorrow and regret for sin know what the years when compassion was delayed. We watch the dawn of grace like a watchman waiting for the dawn. Our thirsty souls eagerly ask, "Lord, how long will it take?"

Turn back, O LORD, and save me. Because the departure of God is the root of his pain, the return of the Lord is enough to solve his predicament. "Save me because of your love." He knows where to look and which hand to hold. He grabbed God's righteous hand not on the left, but on the right. He knows that he is too dirty to think about any of his own advantages, and he will not rely on anything other than God's grace.

"Because of your kindness." What a good prayer! For God, such a prayer is perfect! If we turn to the judge, how can we pray? But if we turn to God's grace, even if we have the greatest sin, we will cry and say, "Save me because of your love."

Please note that David often uses the name of the Lord in his cry here. Generally, if Lord appears in Das Kapital, that's the name he refers to. This name is used five times in four verses. Isn't this evidence that this glorious name is full of comfort and strength for the tempted saints? Eternity, infinity, invariability and self-existence are all in the name of the Lord and full of comfort.

Now, David is deeply afraid of death-temporary death or perhaps eternal death. If you are willing to read this paragraph, the following poem is full of power. "Because no one remembers you when you are dead, who will thank you in the grave?" The cemetery is a quiet place; The bed of souls in the grave will not echo any songs. The wet ground covered the dumb mouth. "Lord?" He said, "If you are willing to pity me, I will thank you. If I die, my immortal praise will also stop; And if I die in the underworld, you will never get my praise. The song of gratitude does not come from the flame of hell. There is no doubt that even if I perish in the eternal trial, you will be honored, but I can't voluntarily honor you; In the crowd, there will be one less heart that wishes you. " Ah! Poor trembling sinner, may God help you use this powerful defense. Sinners are saved for the glory of God. When we pray for forgiveness, we are not trying to defile God's glory or damage his reputation. He is a god willing to show mercy. This is his unique and cordial symbol. Mercy glorifies God. Shouldn't we say to ourselves, "Is compassion a blessing to the giver or a blessing to the prey?" There is no doubt that we are prophets. This is the true nature of God, a God who shows mercy and glorifies himself.

Leave me, you evildoers. Because the Lord heard my crying voice.

The Lord heard my plea. The Lord will accept my prayer.

10 All my enemies will be ashamed and greatly dismayed. They will turn around and suddenly feel ashamed.

8. So far, everything has been frustrating and disturbing, but now-

"Pick up your harps, frightened saints, and take them off the willows."

You will cry sometimes, but make them shorter. Get up, get up and get out of your trough! Don't be so careless! Although there are tears at night, there will be cheers in the morning.

David found peace, stood up and began to purge evil from his heart. "Leave me, all evildoers" The best way to save us from the bad guys is to keep a distance from them. "You leave me; I am none of your business. " Confession is realistic. We should not only mourn for the unclean temple of the soul, but also disperse the buyers and sellers and overturn the money changers' tables. A favored sinner will hate those sins that can only be washed away with the blood of his savior. Grace and sin are incompatible neighbors, either in this corner or that corner.

"Because the Lord has listened to my pleading voice" What a beautiful Hebrew and great English poem! "He listened to my plea." Is there any sound in this crying? Can you talk when you cry? What language does it speak in? Why, this universal language can be recognized and understood by all people in the world, even reaching heaven. When a person cries, whether he is a Jew or a foreigner, a Babylonian or a Greek, a slave or an autonomous person, it has the same meaning in this kind of crying. Crying is an excuse for sadness. He is a fluent speaker and can be understood by everyone without translation. Isn't this enough to convince us that our tears can express what our words can't? Let's learn to treat tears as a liquid prayer and cry as an irresistible plea that keeps dripping. This tear will surely wash out a broad road to compassion, although there are rock-solid obstacles on the road. My god, I will cry when I don't know how to beg, because you listened to my crying voice with your heart.

9 "The Lord has heard my supplication." The Holy Spirit wrote a belief in the poet's mind that his prayer had been heard. This is usually the privilege of saints. Praying with faith, they are often sure that they have convinced God. We read that Luther wrestled with God in prayer. He escaped from his inner room and shouted, "Vicky Moose, Vicky Moose; In other words, "We won, and we have convinced God." The certainty of faith is not daydreaming, because when the Holy Spirit gives it to us, we know it is true, and we can't doubt it. Even everyone laughed at our boldness. "The Lord will accept my prayer." Here is to encourage the future with past experience. He has, and he will. Pay attention here, oh dear brothers and sisters, follow the reasoning here.

10. "All my enemies will be ashamed and greatly dismayed." This is not so much a curse as a prophecy, and the future can be fulfilled. "All my enemies will be ashamed and greatly dismayed." They must turn back and suddenly feel ashamed-suddenly; -Their bad luck will suddenly come. The day of death is the day of fate, both of which are decisive and sudden. The Romans used to say, "The foot of the God of vengeance has set foot on the flywheel." The avenger's silent footsteps are approaching his sacrifice, and his staff of destruction will suddenly subvert everything. If this is a curse, we must remember that this ancient law does not apply today. We pray for the enemy, not curse them. God has mercy on them and guides them to the right path.

Therefore, this poem and the previous poems show different endings of justice and evil. Oh, Lord, let us be among your people now and forever.
