What does Jesus Christ mean?

Jesus Christ means savior. Jesus Christ's "Jesus" is a transliteration of the Greek word lesous, which means "the Lord is salvation", and God wants to save his people from sin; "Christ" is a transliteration of the Greek christos, which is translated into "Messiah" in Chinese, meaning that God anointed him as the savior. "Jesus" refers to the son of God, born of the Virgin Mary, with the sacred inspiration to save mankind. At the age of 30, he was baptized by John the Baptist, and then preached in Galilee that the kingdom of God was near, urging people to repent and believe in the gospel. "Christ" refers to the savior anointed by God and glorified Jesus, and is often called Jesus later. According to the Christian belief, Jesus is the savior chosen by God to fulfill the mission of salvation. His life, teaching, death and resurrection are all regarded as the redemption of human sins. Christian doctrine holds that through believing in Jesus Christ, people can gain eternal life and establish a close relationship with God.
