Both poems are epics, and both are comments on Zhou Yu in the Chibi War. However, the two poems have different emphases. Du Fu's poems are lyrical by borrowing ancient times, while Hu Shi's poems are critical by borrowing history. Du Mu believes that the reason for Zhou Yu's victory is caused by objective conditions. Without the east wind, Zhou Yu could not attack with fire or win. As a result, Wu Dong was defeated. Hu Ceng thinks that Zhou Yu is the key to winning Battle of Red Cliffs. The so-called "leading troops without wielding swords, losing millions of heroes" is exactly what Su Shi said, "talking and laughing, dying in smoke", which highly praised Zhou Yu's talent. Ideologically, I think there is no difference between the two poems. Judging from the poetry creation, Du Fu's poems are obviously higher than Hu's. This is not because Du Mu is more famous than Hu Ceng, but because: Du Mu used the ancients to express his distress, which has practical significance and sincere feelings; Hu Ceng is only an evaluation of Zhou Yu, lacking realism. The ancients said that "poetry expresses ambition", and poetry always has certain social significance.
